NC State Coach Dave Doeren Joins Scotty McCreery In “Wagon Wheel” Cover
This past weekend, N.C. State’s annual welcome back festival, Packapalooza, saw Wolfpack head football coach Dave Doeren again take the stage alongside former American Idol winner (and N.C. State sophomore) Scotty McCreery, much like the two did for the excellent Johnny Cash cover featured on ESPN’s Game Day this past January.
In front of a flood of Wolfpack students packing the campus’ iconic Hillsborough Street, the duo were joined by the school’s Chancellor, Randy Woodson, and busted out a pretty decent cover of our favorite song around these parts, “Wagon Wheel.”
Although Doeren shies away from any kind of vocals, he’s pretty damn on point when it comes to rhythm guitar, and you have to appreciate a guy in his position who’s open enough to share some of his talents with the student body.
They probably couldn’t have picked a better song to play for the Raleigh faithful.
While it sure isn’t Ol’ Crow, it’s actually not bad.
