New York Law Changes Collegiate Sexual Consent From “No Means No” To “Yes Means Yes”
A new law in New York has completely changed the hookup game for college students in the state. Instead of the classic “no means no” approach to countering instances of rape on campuses, a new “yes means yes” rule has been implemented. Basically, for every step you make, you will be required to verbally ask for permission before proceeding.

In New York, there is now on all college campuses. A bill signed into law July 7 requires both parties to obtain consent for sex and each nibble and caress that sometimes paves the way. The law applies only on college campuses. At its heart is a simple concept: instead of “No Means No,” it’s “Yes Means Yes.”
“Can I kiss you?”
“Yes.”
“Can I grab your left breast?”
“Yes.”
“Can I grab your right breast?”
“Yes.”
“Can I paint you red and pee on you like a dirty little fire hydrant?”
“Good boy.”
This plan ruins the flow of things. Better idea: written hookup contracts carried by students whenever they go out. First, mark everything on the list that you would be comfortable consenting to in the bedroom. Then, both parties must review the terms of one another’s contracts and sign the paper before proceeding physically (Bonus: if a girl has like a hundred signatures, you know to steer clear).

An even better solution would be mandatory camera installations in every dorm room, and I would like to be the first one to personally volunteer to review all of the footage for instances of foul play. Anything to make sex safer for the kids..

10 years ago at 6:10 pmThat’s a pretty stupid statement, white males typically are the largest population in most universities, on top of that white families on average earn more money then other minorities so why would they kick out their cash cows? With that being said , the government is pushing for universities to enroll more underprivileged and sometimes undeserving minorities and don’t quote me on this but if they reach a certain quota of minority students they will receive more funding due to some act that we probably haven’t paid attention too. Or they are trying to avoid potential lawsuits in liberal America because someone felt offended . Fact is more white males are in trouble because there is more white males. So don’t make this a race issue when universities equally show indifference to all colors , lean more towards feminism and hate Greek life with a passion.

But yes, the cost of living is getting way out of hand. But the city isn’t close to crumbling because of it.

The policy that epitomizes my statement is when Obama proposed low income housing in “white privileged suburbs” in an attempt to “brown white neighborhoods.” This is nothing more than an attempt to bring liberal voters to predominantly republican communities. And therefore spread democratic votes throughout counties instead of centering them in cities. You can look at liberals refusing to deport illegal immigrants, because by doing so they’re sending away potential democratic voters. Liberalism spreads and kills anything it touches. Bill De Blasio is bringing liberal policy to the city, turning his back on the police department, and dividing classes. Crime is up, and arrests are down.

10 years ago at 6:17 pmI’m not in favor of this rule, nor am I defending those who falsely accuse others of rape, but have you stopped to think about the fact that there is a correlation between slut shaming and false rape accusations? One hardly ever hears of men falsely accusing anyone of rape; there are myriad reasons for this, but lack of a social stigma associated with having sex is among them.
This legislation won’t solve the problems of campus date rape or false accusations. If someone wants to rape someone else, words won’t create a magical no-rape forcefield, and if someone wants to falsely accuse another, how can consent be proven unless it’s in writing? But an individual can avoid raping others and can address what motivates some women to make false accusations (slut shaming is among the reasons), and an individual can choose not to contribute to the problem. Individual social responsibility > government legislation.

When I read it I initially thought that quote was released by one of the policy’s creators as a justification for the new policy and was absolutely horrified.
