New York Law Changes Collegiate Sexual Consent From “No Means No” To “Yes Means Yes”
A new law in New York has completely changed the hookup game for college students in the state. Instead of the classic “no means no” approach to countering instances of rape on campuses, a new “yes means yes” rule has been implemented. Basically, for every step you make, you will be required to verbally ask for permission before proceeding.
From Syracuse:
In New York, there is now on all college campuses. A bill signed into law July 7 requires both parties to obtain consent for sex and each nibble and caress that sometimes paves the way. The law applies only on college campuses. At its heart is a simple concept: instead of “No Means No,” it’s “Yes Means Yes.”
“Can I kiss you?”
“Yes.”
“Can I grab your left breast?”
“Yes.”
“Can I grab your right breast?”
“Yes.”
“Can I paint you red and pee on you like a dirty little fire hydrant?”
“Good boy.”
This plan ruins the flow of things. Better idea: written hookup contracts carried by students whenever they go out. First, mark everything on the list that you would be comfortable consenting to in the bedroom. Then, both parties must review the terms of one another’s contracts and sign the paper before proceeding physically (Bonus: if a girl has like a hundred signatures, you know to steer clear).
Example Contract:
[x] 1st Base
[x] 2nd Base
[x] 3rd Base
[ ] All the way
[ ] Butt Stuff
[X] Fire Hydrant Stuff
An even better solution would be mandatory camera installations in every dorm room, and I would like to be the first one to personally volunteer to review all of the footage for instances of foul play. Anything to make sex safer for the kids..

Whatever law maker made this shit clearly has Aspergers and has no idea how to interact with human beings.
10 years ago at 6:15 pmI work in the DA’s office of one of the New York counties and I can tell you that the lawyers who know the politicians who pushed for this law consider them to be moronic. It creates more problems for the guys who have to go through these cases and decide what deserves to go to trial or not.
10 years ago at 10:33 pmI had the chance to meet with the woman who was mainly responsible for pushing this bill, Sen. Kristen Gillibrand, as a rep for Greek Life. Out of the 10 people that met with her that day, I was the only guy, and when I asked how this is fair for both sides she gave me some “if the male is innocent then the investigations will prove it” bullshit answer. Fucking ridiculous
10 years ago at 9:38 amAs someone who this law may affect since I sometimes maybe do the sex, and considering the lack of actual information in this article, I am curious as to what this law actually changes and how it will do so
10 years ago at 6:16 pmThis law is so dumb, I’d honestly rather not have sex than have to ask for permission for every move I make. Colleges these days are all geared towards making the lives of men much harder, while making females have much more power than they deserve.

10 years ago at 9:20 pmThe main problem I have with this law is that it is completely unenforceable. This law completely rejects the idea that the burden of proof should be placed upon the accuser, and not the accused. A he said-she said case should never be enough to convict someone of rape. There has to be a sign of physical struggle or a toxicology report insinuating that the victim was drugged. Otherwise, it is impossible to prove that non-consensual sex occurred. Moral of the story? If someone forces themselves on you, fight them. Kick them in the face. Punch them in the neck. Scratch their eyeballs out. Physical confrontation is an unavoidable part of being a living thing on this planet. Accept it, and fight back when someone tries to rape you.

10 years ago at 12:56 amThis is classical mass hysteria, the % of sexual assault victims on college campus is lower than outside of college. Laws like this only erode the peoples respect and confidence in government. Not that it was high to begin with…
10 years ago at 2:04 amCan you imagine how many young women have consensual sex, then later wonder if they were raped because of campaigns like this? Rape is a horrible thing, but when the liberals put in place laws like these any guy can be considered a rapist.
