Did The Ohio State-Michigan Refs Cheat The Buckeyes To Victory?

So I’m not saying the referees officiating the Ohio State – Michigan game were in the tank for the Buckeyes, but I’m definitely saying it is possible. And before we go any further, no I’m not from Michigan, and no I’m not from Ohio. I have no dog in this fight. I just find this video “interesting.”

It took two overtimes for the Buckeyes to beat the Wolverines 30-27 in the Shoe on Saturday in one of the greatest incarnations of “The Game” rivalry in recent memory, but it wasn’t without controversy. Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh was extremely critical of the officiating after the game — so much so that the NCAA fined him for it. He might’ve had good reason to be critical, though.

As this video shows, the referees, at least two who are reportedly FROM Ohio, overlooked a whooooooole lot of obvious calls on the Buckeyes. Calls that weren’t even borderline, “eh, mayyyyybe that hit was after the whistle” calls. They were more like, “Yeah, the whistle blew 20 minutes ago and I just got stabbed by the Buckeyes’ mascot. Can we get a flag? No? Awesome. Can we at least get me to a hospital? No? Goddammit” calls.

See for yourself:

I understand these refs can’t see everything, but COME ON. Some of these are right in the middle of the action. Stevie Wonder would’ve spotted these penalties and he’s a talented musician!!! He doesn’t even know the rules of football!!!!

I don’t know, man. While I know the NCAA is an outstanding organization and ALWAYS does the right thing, this might be worth reviewing after you get finished punishing athletes for drinking water from a coach’s water fountain. The inhumanity, am I right?!

Look at the source you got it from I think there might be some biased from the guy who put the video together.

Penalties, especially ones like offensive/defensive holding and PI, are routinely missed by officials in pretty much every game. You could easily make a compilation video of missed calls that benefitted UM too. Yeah, you could maybe make an argument that more of those calls went OSU’s way, but that’s usually how it goes for the home team. Falling for this video is like falling for those one sided, pseudo-political videos of a bunch of out of context quotes to make the other side look bad.

Completely agree with you but it does raise some questions when Ohio State had a total of zero live game flags thrown on them. Oh, and Urban’s a bitch.

Erroneous. Hands to the face gave them first and goal from the one yard line. OSU stuffed them on first and second down before allowing the TD. Without that penalty they might’ve had to settle for a FG.

My bad, that 1 yard penalty they called at the end of the drive slipped my mind.

Im not a doctor or anything but i think the three turnovers and mivhigan passing on every down cost them. Typical harbaugh…everytime he loses he blames the refs.

Would YOU want to throw the ball with a less than 100% Wilton Speight or John O’Korn?

As I said in previous comments fuck, Ohio State. They don’t deserve to make the playoffs.

Not an OSU fan (though I do have a bias against Michigan) but the guy who actually spotted the ball is a UM fan. That alone should put this conspiracy theory to rest.
