Yup, that’s where we’re at with sports news in July. Mike Gundy shows up to Big 12 media day with a clean-cut Mississippi Mudflap — maybe the biggest oxymoron imaginable — and I guarantee he steals the top headlines on tonight’s SportCenter. That’s how desperate we are as a country for football to start. Forget that we’re in the midst of two pennant races and that the PGA Championship starts ten minutes after the British Open; I need my pigskin fix and I need it now.

Is that a college football coach or the go-to dealer for the best preowned car shopping experience in Stillwater? That’s the mullet of a man who just NEEDS to get last year’s GM models off his lot with a slogan like “More for your trade, more for your money, get yourself a Gundy.”
