Old Man Walks Up To News Crew While They Are Reporting On His Disappearance

Remember the story from the Oklahoma tornado tragedy where a news crew was interviewing an old lady live about her missing dog, only to miraculously discover him under a pile of rubble during the interview? It was an amazing turn of events that garnered national attention. This one is a lot like that, only there was no natural disaster and it was an old man that was missing instead of a dog.

Robert McDonough, 73, suffers from dementia. He went for a casual stroll around town, well, in his mind. Everyone else considered it a missing persons case, one that lasted 14 hours. Ol’ Bob turned up though, and just like the tornado dog, it occurred while the news team was present. He literally walked right past the news team as they were wrapping up the coverage.

Around 6:30 AM, shortly after reporter Norm Karkos delivered a live update, Robert McDonough, who had been missing for 14 hours, approached the crew and identified himself.

Awesome stuff, but somebody needs to put a bell on Bob. I’d hate to see him walk off like that again.

My favorite part of this story, aside from the obvious reemergence of a missing elderly man, is the train of thought going on inside this reporter’s mind as he realizes that the old man just wandering by the news set is the very person the story is about. It’s pretty funny. No, it’s very funny.
