Oregon State has set the plans in motion to complete a 13,000-square foot beer garden inside Reser Stadium overlooking the north end zone for Saturdays this fall.

From Football Scoop:

Known as The Terrace, the 13,000-square foot area will serve beer (offered by a selection of the state’s 194 breweries), wine (ditto for Oregon’s 400 wineries) and food vendors to a group of 600 fans who can view their favorite team’s game on chair back seating. Each game’s vendors will be chosen through a social media vote, and Oregon State’s Food Science and Technology and its Fermentation Science — also known as Oregon State’s own in-house brewery — programs.

Now before getting into this, everyone already knows that I’m a huge, lifelong CU-Boulder fan as of a few weeks ago. Sko Buffs. So I get if you think this is just the biased, unwarranted hate of a conference foe. But let’s put our differences aside and look at this objectively.

If you go to a football game and want to sip on IPAs, sours, or stouts, you’re a chode. That’s actually a good rule of thumb outside of football games with IPAs and sours as well. Football games are meant to be enjoyed with a delicious $16 8 ounce watered down stadium cup of the only available light beer on tap, not your choice of 100 different types of locally brewed seasonal barley wines. I’m just picturing an entire stadium of characters from Portlandia in orange fedoras slowly twirling their un-ironic handlebar mustaches loudly muttering about hops and malts and sniffing the empty glasses they just farted into. The pretentiousness and smug coming from the section alone would leave opposing teams in a state of discomfort, frustration, and utter confusion.

It’s not the most conventional method or ideal crowd you want for a college football game, but it could actually work as a home field advantage in Corvallis.

You’ve obviously never been to Corvallis if you’re comparing it to Portlandia. head south to Eugene if you want to see some uppety hipsters.

Pregaming at your house , pregaming at the tailgate, and now you can pregame in the stadium

Only a matter of time until all college stadiums sell alcohol (with the exception of the old fucks in the champions clubs) and I for one couldn’t be more excited.

Back in the day Texas had several bars on campus, even before they lowered the drinking age to 18

I enjoy a nice American lager as much as the next guy, but you can drink an IPA without being a hipster snob

And they only had to bulldoze thousands of season ticket holders’ seats to do it
