People go to crazy lengths to attempt to rekindle relationships with their exes. This story is not about one of those people. A Pennsylvania man, Justin Bellanco, completely half-assed his attempt, and it backfired — big time.

From Times Leader:

Justin Bellanco, 26, of South Main Street, was arraigned Tuesday on a contempt of court charge when he allegedly violated a no-contact restraining order when he “liked” photos on April Holland’s Facebook page.

Holland, 24, of Pittston, obtained a protection from abuse order against Bellanco on July 28, claiming Bellanco has been stalking and harassing her and her friends, and threatened to shoot her knee cap to watch her suffer, according to her PFA application.

Luzerne County Judge Lesa Gelb on Aug. 4 granted a restraining order against Bellanco, prohibiting him from having any contact with Holland for one year.

Apparently, this restraining order includes all forms of contact, including digital. What if he was just flipping through his news feed and accidentally dished out a few likes, though? That’s a relatively common occurrence, and it’s a bad time. Keeps Instagram creepers like me up at night just thinking about it. Until you sneeze and accidentally double-tap a photo mourning the loss of that girl who sat three rows in front of you in Chem 101 freshman year’s deceased great uncle that was posted 155 weeks ago, you don’t know fear. But yeah, maybe it was all just an accident.

Police allege Bellanco “liked” 22 photos and videos on Holland’s Facebook.

22?!? C’mon, man! That’s just excessive. You’re not going to win her back by blowing up her notifications. That’s just being a nuisance.

It’s probably a good thing he didn’t “poke” her as well. I’m no lawman, but I feel like that could be considered digital assault or something. Pretty sure that if they got into a poke war we’d have to enact some Geneva Convention shit, too. Dodged a bullet on that one.

Real talk, though, I’m not totally opposed to locking dudes up for this. When one of your buddies gets dumped, he might think it’s a good idea to try to win his chick back by playing to her vanity. “Maybe if I toss out some likes, she’ll love me again,” he’ll say. Getting some cuffs slapped on him would really bring him back down to earth. Make him think twice before he decides to be a little bitch. Could be the move. Just my two cents.

Bellanco was released on $5,000 bail, which equates to a little over $227 per like. Savage.

So she filed for a restraining order but didn’t un-friend him on Facebook? Maybe I’m crazy but if I was worried about someone hurting me I would at the very least make my profile private and cut off as much digital contact as possible.

Who would have guessed that a dude with a shaved head and hoop earrings would threaten to shoot his girlfriend?
