People Plan To Counter-Protest “Mock Mass Shooting” With “Mass Farting” Near University Of Texas

In response to Obama’s calls for tougher gun regulation, an anticipated 800 pro-gun activists will descend near the University of Texas at Austin to stage a mock mass shooting complete with loaded guns, bullhorns to mimic gunshots, and fake blood.

Since the protest was announced, counter-protestors planned a “Mass Farting” with toys that make farting sounds.

Both protests were originally to be held on the University of Texas campus, but the school said they’d hit them with trespassing.

In June, Texas passed a law that allowed students to carry concealed weapons on campus grounds. Fearing the new law may be in jeopardy, activists decided to stage the demonstration to showcase why the new law is important to keep.

…gun rights supporters will begin the day by marching through Austin with loaded weapons and conclude their walk with a “theatrical performance.”

“In the wake of yet another gun free zone shooting, Obama is using it to aggressively push his gun confiscation agenda,” a Facebook page for the event read. “Now is the time to stand up, take a walk, speak out against the lies and put an end to the gun free killing zones.”

I’m all for allowing guns on campus if the student has a proper permit (and doesn’t need to down fistfuls of pills to keep from hurting themselves or others). But defend it by promoting stories like the Uber driver who stopped a mass shooting by pulling out a pistol he kept in his glovebox. A bunch of dudes running around a campus pretending to shoot each other isn’t edgy or eye-opening. That’s what I did in my backyard as a child with my younger brother. It makes pro-gun supporters everywhere look like complete loons. And surprise, surprise, the people staging this thing are fucking insane. Look at this post on the event’s Facebook group.

This William LaSalle seems like a pretty stable guy. I wouldn’t be concerned about people like him running around my campus with a loaded assault rifle. Not one bit..
