Pete Rose Reportedly Still Banned From The HOF

I’m a huge fan of baseball, but the MLB came up short again. Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred has reportedly upheld Rose’s lifetime ban for betting on baseball as a manager, and reportedly as a player-manager, too.

Manfred recently ruled that Rose would be allowed to participate in baseball events as well as work as an analyst for FOX Sports, and sportswriter after sportswriter have called for his eligibility for the Hall of Fame to be reinstated. Pete Rose is, after all, the lifetime leader in hits, as well as the lifetime leader in plate appearances and games played. AND he broke a guy’s leg in the All-Star Game — that’s how much love he had for the game.

Was Pete gambling on baseball wrong? You bet. Has he paid the price for over 25 years? Certainly. Does it in any way diminish what he accomplished on the field? Absolutely not. I know this is hardly a “hot take,” but for the love of God, let the guy in the hall. There are people in the hall who did far worse things in their lives.

Yes, he should’ve have done what he did but it’s not like he was on roids. Just let him in because he was a phenomenal player.

They should let him back in. There are legit felons who have done less time than Rose.

He should be in as a player. He did the betting as a manager.
    There is a difference

He probably would have been reinstated had not new evidence surfaced a few months ago that he bet as a player as well. Pretty sure this site covered that too.

During the HRD held in Cincinnati this summer he walked out onto the field after a few other notable players from the Reds and the crowed went nuts. No one gives a shit about his gambling anymore, not even his home team.

Of course his home team and crowd* wouldn’t care about his gambling… Reds fans will always love Pete

Why should they let him in? He had 25 years to make his public image better and has done nothing. I agree with Manfred 100%. As much as id like to see him in, he does not deserve a place in Cooperstown.
