Corrupt Russian President Vladimir Putin Thinks Corrupt FIFA President Sepp Blatter Deserves Nobel Prize

In an attempt to troll the general soccer population, Russian president Vladimir Putin said FIFA president Sepp Blatter deserves a Nobel prize.

Blatter, who is universally regarded as a corrupt scumbag, and FIFA passed a resolution Saturday offering full support for the 2018 World Cup in St. Petersburg.

FIFA boss Sepp Blatter deserves a Nobel Prize for his stewardship of soccer’s governing body, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview aired by Swiss broadcaster RTS on Monday.

On Saturday, at a meeting with Putin in St Petersburg, Blatter said that FIFA, facing a major bribery scandal, had passed a resolution offering full support for holding the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

“We all know the situation developing around Mr Blatter right now. I don’t want to go into details but I don’t believe a word about him being inolved in corruption personally,” he said.

“I think people like Mr Blatter or the heads of big international sporting federations, or the Olympic Games, deserve special recognition. If there is anyone who deserves the Nobel Prize, it’s those people.”

Putin also criticized the United States for their investigation into FIFA saying it was meddling in affairs outside of its jurisdiction.

I don’t know a lot about soccer, but this one seems pretty easy to dissect. Putin, a corrupt president of a corrupt nation, has a vested interest in a corrupt man who is bringing the World Cup to his country. If a few million rubles meant I was allowed to handpick the next location for the World Cup, I’d say the guy deserves the Nobel prize, the Pulitzer, an Oscar, an Emmy, a Tony and a Golden Globe, too. (But not a VMA. That award is sacred.) I imagine he said this quote while laughing and drinking a White Russian (they’re never out of style in Moscow) with Sepp in the national bank vault, swimming in cash.

As a man who has mad respect for Gorbachev and studied Russian history in college, I can’t say there is much too like about Vladimir Putin — especially because he never filmed a Pizza Hut commercial:

If there was anything to respect about him, though, it’s his ability to fuck with people.

Who is going to call him out on it? Not the Russians, that’s for sure..
