Princeton Review Releases Top Party School List For 2014
Here they are, the rankings almost as important as the BCS, or, if your school sucks at football, the rankings that are absolutely more important. I mean, really, shouldn’t they be more important regardless? Football is one semester, but raging is everyday. Without further ado, the Princeton Review’s Top 20 party schools of 2014.
1. University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa
2. University of California, Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara, Calif.
3. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Urbana, Ill.
4. West Virginia University, Morgantown W. Va.
5. Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y.
6. University of Florida, Gainesville, Fla.
7. Ohio University, Athens, Ohio
8. University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, Wis.
9. Penn State University, University Park, Pa.
10. Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa.
11. University of Georgia, Athens, Ga.
12. Florida State University, Tallahassee, Fla.
13. DePauw University, Greencastle, Ind.
14. University of Mississippi, University, Miss.
15. University of Texas at Austin, Austin, Texas
16. Miami University of Ohio, Oxford, Ohio
17. University of Maryland, College Park, Md.
18. Tulane University, New Orleans, La.
19. University of Vermont, Burlington, Vt.
20. University of Oregon, Eugene, Ore.
Once again, Iowa is killing it. The University of Iowa has been placing at or near the top of these sorts of lists for the last few years. Truly, the Hawkeyes are establishing a 1990s Arizona State-esque dynasty of raging. This makes me especially happy, because the University of Iowa administration has been trying their damnedest to curb partying at the school. Way to pound a fifth of cheap whiskey and a 30 of light beer as often as possible to stick it to the administration, Iowa students. Speaking of Arizona State, the Sun Devils and their rival, the Arizona Wildcats, are nowhere to be found on the list. I have to ask, then, what in the hell are these Arizona schools good for now?
The rest of the list seems pretty standard, though there are a few eyebrow raisers. Vermont at 19 seems like your token “stoner school selection,” and while I admittedly know almost nothing about UC Santa Barbara, the number two ranking seems a little high. Other than those, I can’t say I have any qualms with the selections, though I’m sure many commenters will. It’s more an honor to be on the list than anything, as actually trying to place one school over the other seems somewhat arbitrary to me. There are some smaller conference schools on the list as well, but those schools pretty much all have a massive Greek Life scene. In fact, almost every school on this list is known to be a quality Greek Life school. No surprise there.
Agree? Disagree? Think I should get run over by a tanker truck full of AIDS blood? That’s what the comments are for.

Wow.
13 years ago at 12:01 pmI prefer Playboy’s list.
13 years ago at 12:02 pmPlayboy chooses from schools in both Division I and II. Trust me, there are some Div II schools that party harder than some of the schools on this list.

13 years ago at 6:43 pmAthens fucks all these places. Go dawgs
13 years ago at 12:02 pmAthens, OH > Athens, GA
13 years ago at 12:14 pmSecond
13 years ago at 12:41 pmyeah I’m sure athens ohio has a comparable bar, music, party, football, and slutty southern girl scene. you’re stupid.
13 years ago at 12:48 pm^ Ron Burgundy loves scotch. Therefore your name and opinion are invalid.
13 years ago at 1:26 pmThere is no way in hell Athens, OH is in the same league as GA. Fuck the Dawgs, but Athens is one hell of a college town.
13 years ago at 4:09 pm^You are right, Athens, Ohio is one hell of a college town.
13 years ago at 5:11 pmI think you spelled ‘dwags’ wrong…
13 years ago at 7:33 pmathens, ohio has is a huge halloween weekend, and some decent fests (usually with shitty electronic djs/hip hop, but i digress) however,. hippies, liberals (athens county generally votes blue because of these liberal arts kids), and a non existent sports program (in terms of having to share spotlight with ohio state and all of its bad/good shit) pretty much sum it up the rest of the time.
i’m not hating/defending either athens. just throwin what i know
13 years ago at 6:32 pm#1? I promised myself I wouldn’t cry…
13 years ago at 12:02 pmOnly 6 southern schools in the top 20. This list is about to get bashed and picked apart from all angles.
13 years ago at 12:04 pmIf this was a list about who hazes the hardest, then I would agree with you. The South isn’t the only fucking region that can throw down.
13 years ago at 2:02 pm^THIS you clearly don’t know how the Midwest rolls, especially IOWA
13 years ago at 5:03 pm^I am well aware of how the Midwest rolls. I’m from the Midwest and have visited more than half of the Big 10 schools. I wasn’t defending the south on this one, just simply stating that butthurt southerners are to be expected here in the comment section after seeing this list.

13 years ago at 5:54 pmThis is the only list you will see in 2013 where four Big Ten schools finish in the Top 10.
13 years ago at 12:04 pmHow about basketball there chief
13 years ago at 12:08 pmMichigan, Ohio St. and Indiana, chief.
13 years ago at 12:11 pmCheck any “best colleges” list and 4, 5, 6, even 7 Big Ten schools are at the top. Work hard play hard
13 years ago at 12:17 pmhttp://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/rankings/_/year/2013/week/14/seasontype/2 – USA today poll
13 years ago at 12:26 pmhttp://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/rankings/_/year/2013/week/19/seasontype/2 – USA Today and the AP
4 Big 10 teams in the top 10 of each
I’ll quote myself here: “finish in the Top 10.”
Those polls are both midseason. Good try though. Keep up the research, nerd.
13 years ago at 12:36 pmYou are correct. I see no other road for me but to conceed. Well played, Kandinsky
13 years ago at 12:51 pmConcede. NF. Conceit. TFM.
13 years ago at 1:18 pmThese schools clearly like to listen to the t.v. with the stereo on
13 years ago at 12:05 pmyes (golf clapping)
13 years ago at 6:17 pmUCSB definitely deserves its reputation. The campus is right on the beach and Isla Vista on the weekends is littered with parties at most houses. They are a little harder to get into but they’re party life is definitely recognizable.
How the fuck is neither Arizona school up there? I understand a snub of one, but both? I guess that’s alright though, because makes the degree look better but we still party as much as anyone.
13 years ago at 12:07 pmEast coast bias.
13 years ago at 12:09 pmTheir* party life may be recognizable, however your community college grammar is not. No wonder you think they are “a little harder to get into”, champ.
13 years ago at 3:36 pmFrom what I hear, both ASU and UofA have been trying to get rid of their respective party reputations for years. I mean look at what happened to ASU’s Greek life. It can’t be that easy to rage with the university looking to bust you at any given moment.
13 years ago at 6:09 pm^^ *into,” champ.
Don’t correct someone else’s grammar without knowing your own punctuation. Laps.
13 years ago at 7:39 pmDo you even party, bro?
13 years ago at 8:41 pmPoor showing by the Pac12. WSU, Colorado, UofA, ASU… get your shit together.
Seriously, Oregon? Bunch of fuckin geeds.
13 years ago at 12:07 pmHonestly surprised at least two of the four you mentioned aren’t on there. No way Oregon should be on there though.
13 years ago at 7:51 pmThe reason University of Oregon is on this list is because Princeton combines their Hard Alcohol, Beer, and Weed lists to complete their Top Party School List. Students at Oregon don’t drink as much as any of the four schools Fratmiral Nelson mentioned, however they probably smoke more than all four combined.
13 years ago at 6:06 pm^which is bullshit. It isn’t a party unless everyone is piss-drunk.
13 years ago at 7:43 pmAlways proud of my Big 10, but I still think Princeton has got this one all messed up.
