Princeton Review Releases Top Party School List For 2014

Here they are, the rankings almost as important as the BCS, or, if your school sucks at football, the rankings that are absolutely more important. I mean, really, shouldn’t they be more important regardless? Football is one semester, but raging is everyday. Without further ado, the Princeton Review’s Top 20 party schools of 2014.

1. University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa

2. University of California, Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara, Calif.

3. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Urbana, Ill.

4. West Virginia University, Morgantown W. Va.

5. Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y.

6. University of Florida, Gainesville, Fla.

7. Ohio University, Athens, Ohio

8. University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, Wis.

9. Penn State University, University Park, Pa.

10. Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa.

11. University of Georgia, Athens, Ga.

12. Florida State University, Tallahassee, Fla.

13. DePauw University, Greencastle, Ind.

14. University of Mississippi, University, Miss.

15. University of Texas at Austin, Austin, Texas

16. Miami University of Ohio, Oxford, Ohio

17. University of Maryland, College Park, Md.

18. Tulane University, New Orleans, La.

19. University of Vermont, Burlington, Vt.

20. University of Oregon, Eugene, Ore.

Once again, Iowa is killing it. The University of Iowa has been placing at or near the top of these sorts of lists for the last few years. Truly, the Hawkeyes are establishing a 1990s Arizona State-esque dynasty of raging. This makes me especially happy, because the University of Iowa administration has been trying their damnedest to curb partying at the school. Way to pound a fifth of cheap whiskey and a 30 of light beer as often as possible to stick it to the administration, Iowa students. Speaking of Arizona State, the Sun Devils and their rival, the Arizona Wildcats, are nowhere to be found on the list. I have to ask, then, what in the hell are these Arizona schools good for now?

The rest of the list seems pretty standard, though there are a few eyebrow raisers. Vermont at 19 seems like your token “stoner school selection,” and while I admittedly know almost nothing about UC Santa Barbara, the number two ranking seems a little high. Other than those, I can’t say I have any qualms with the selections, though I’m sure many commenters will. It’s more an honor to be on the list than anything, as actually trying to place one school over the other seems somewhat arbitrary to me. There are some smaller conference schools on the list as well, but those schools pretty much all have a massive Greek Life scene. In fact, almost every school on this list is known to be a quality Greek Life school. No surprise there.

Agree? Disagree? Think I should get run over by a tanker truck full of AIDS blood? That’s what the comments are for.

Shout out to Tom Rocklin, he’s doing a great job cleaning up our party school image. Go Hawkeyes

Lehigh, DePauw, Vermont, and Oregon shouldn’t be on the list. And only 6 Southern schools on the list (7 if you include WVU) should tell you that there is geographical bias towards the North (11 schools from the North) and only 2 schools from the West.

As a native from California, I am kinda ashamed that SB made second on the list. Almost no greek life; it is pretty much geed central with a plethora of cargo shorts. This list loses all credibility for rating them that high in my opinion. It has to get better than SB; no way there are that high up on the list.

Obviously a lot of people here need to take a better look at the Big Ten and the rest of the Midwest area. The south without a doubt does have a great reputation for great parties, no argument here, but its nice to see these guys don’t underestimate the Midwest. Yeah us guys up north are clearly displaying our power to rage harder. But hey I guess I’ll take my college ranking at the #1 spot

Lehigh, that has got to be a fucking joke. One of my brother’s cousins is in a Chapter at Lehighcame to a mediocre party with a run of the mill sorority and said it was “fucking epic.” And I wouldn’t exactly call my school a great party school.

I refuse to believe that the University of Maryland parties harder than SEC powerhouses LSU and Bama, party city schools like Miami (FL) and USC, or age old dynasties like the Arizonas. Maryland hasn’t had anything to celebrate since they won a basketball title 10 years ago.
