I can’t wait until ESPN is sucking the Cubs dick next year when the rest of the elite prospect are up, the Wrigley renovation is done, and either Zimmerman or Price sign. ESPN likes to isolate teams and individuals and jam them down your throat until you to either love them or hate them. The Cubs are what ESPN is looking for to represent the MLB. This year will be the rise of the Cubs and next year will be the publicity whoring contending Cubs that all you Braves fans won’t be able to get off your TV, and I love it. Keep milking the “Cubs will always suck because they are the Cubs” theology while it lasts, because when the Cubs are perennial contenders year after year after year with a 230 million dollar payroll funded by record breaking TV deals and a brilliant front office in charge, you will long for the days you used to simplify your definition of the Cubs as the loveable losers.
The forums are gone and everyone’s a damn crowd-pleaser with their commentary so they can collect fake internet points. No discussions and unpopular opinions anymore. It’s a bummer.
You bring up 1908 because rather than use relevant statistical reasoning, you take the lazy way out with the history repeats itself approach. Since that’s your reasoning I’m assuming you think your Cardinals are gonna coast back into the playoffs like history has shown. Pirates are a playoff team, Brewers are right there, if Bruce and Votto can return to full health and join risings studs like Mesoraco and Hamilton, the Reds can be dangerous with Cueto at the top and Aroldis shutting the door. The Cubs are now a competitive team with a ton of power and rising fast. Aren’t you a little worried about the future of the Cardinals and the NL Central in general? Lackey and Holliday are old balls, Peralta was mediocre to begin with and he’s not getting any younger. Your bullpen is shoddy. It’s unfortunate what happened to Tavaras but now Jon Jay is the answer? I wouldn’t be so confident in your redbirds this year.
Fuck the cubs

11 years ago at 4:32 pmEasy there chief. It’s plain and simple, the Cubs suck, they are they laughing stock of the NL and you’re a little butthurt. No harm no foul.
