Doing so could be misleading and inhibit medical practitioners from accurately diagnosing the patient’s problem; as a result, this would prove deleterious for everyone involved and would not augur well for the fraternity in question. So, perhaps such insouciance should not be commended until the potential pitfalls of the situation are fully taken into account. I mean, a joke is a joke, but grow up.

^He also has no clue what he’s talking about. They just need a “reason for visit/chief complaint.” They are going to get a history and physical and find out what actually happened the second they step foot in the room, so it really doesn’t affect the care he’s going to receive, or how fast he receives it.

      Try harder.

    2. They want a reason for the visit so they can compare the subjective (e.g. what the patient said) versus the objective (what they actually see), to better diagnose the situation. If you say that they’re in there because of something, say, alcohol poisoning, and they see that you, say, ruptured your appendix, they want to make sure that the two are (or aren’t) connected. If they are connected, that would be a bit unusual. If they aren’t connected, a more extensive history can be sought.

Just doing my part to decrease stupidity-related deaths.
