Rutgers Fraternity Hangs Harmless Breast Cancer Signs On House, Campus Outrage Ensues

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. During the month, you’ll find countless pink things and hear sayings such as “I heart boobies” or “Save the ta tas.” These types of things will be found everywhere across the United States, and it’s great, because raising awareness for breast cancer is a great thing.

Rutgers University is one of the places where you’ll see a lot of Breast Cancer Awareness decorations. That’s because each October, the Greek houses will decorate their houses pink for Zeta Tau Alpha’s “Think Pink” campaign. The house that is determined to be the most pink wins a dinner with the girls. Sounds harmless, right? Show a little support for a good cause, and win a dinner with the girls. Well one fraternity, Theta Delta Chi, is in some hot water for the signs they made. Check out what these guys put out.

Looks like a good display if you ask me. Unfortunately, because everyone has to constantly be mad about something these days, someone took a photo, posted it to Facebook, and let the cry babies in.

Here are just a few of the comments that stood out:

Comment 1

So now they’re perpetuating rape culture because they want to support breast cancer? Say what now? That’s the most asinine thing I’ve ever heard. For those who don’t know, “I heart boobies” is something created by the Keep A Breast foundation, not fraternities.

Comment 2

Sounds like someone didn’t get a bid.

Comment 3

Dang these boys for writing “save the ta-tas!” They should be hung for the whole world to see, right? It’s not like save the ta-tas didn’t already exist as a charitable organization for breast cancer.

It was probably an idea that some creepy, misogynistic dude came up with. What’s that? It was founded by a woman? Welp, guess I’m wrong.

The resulting outrage led to the Dean of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs to email the fraternity to remove the signs. They complied with the request because despite what these commenters think, they aren’t terrible guys. So my question is this: Why are people so outraged over Theta Delta Chi for these signs? Just a thought, but what if the concerned citizens spent as much time raising awareness for breast cancer as they did complaining against fraternities?

Look what happens when this exec board has to deal with its school’s “PC police.”

Coming from a member of the greek community at Rutgers, I can tell you that this isn’t even surprising anymore. The dean of fraternity and sorority affairs is a fucking tyrant that has been using every measure she can, sensible or not, to attack greek life here in every way possible.

Reminds me of the alpha sig march against sexual assault.

They want a reason to hate us. They find them, albeit stupid reasons but they will find one because the fucking liberals hate to see fraternities do anything good.

I love that in both cases, the reason for the protest isn’t actually that the fraternity did anything wrong since any other organization doing these things would get positive press for their activism. It’s because it goes against their stereotype of us. #stopfratshaming

I just don’t understand what pleasure people find in acting offended to everything that people do. My sister in law has beast cancer and my brother wears pink shirts that she buys him that say shit I <3 her Boobies. I have one too, and if someone came up to me and said I was offending them, I would probably have to pop them right in the kisser.

You’re getting offended over a group of people raising awareness in a humorous way approved by the people that are actually suffering from the disease itself. God, man I really regret my name selection on this website.

Why don’t you just start over with a new handle? You ever graduated from Rushee status, so it’s not like you’ll be giving up any hard-earned internet points…

First they say “Desexualize breasts” “free the nipples” then when our community uses breasts in a non-sexual manner were “pushing rape culture” or “making a disease sexual”. Garbage.

As ZeteNj says they wanna free female sexuality and non-stigmatize peoples sexuality…unless its a “cis gendered white male” than they become the puritans

I feel like you guys shouldnt report this stuff anymore. It isnt news when it happens everyday.

We all know were under attack, we all know liberals suck, we all know feminist extremists are doing more harm for their cause than good. Seems like the way to take a stand now is to ignore them and keep doing what we do best. We party and meet girls like any other college kid, and we may show up to philanthropic events hungover..but at least we show up. And thats more than 95 percent of the campus is doing. We need to keep doing what we do without stooping to their level. We cant even promote good causes without sparking outrage. I know that fraternities help. I know we do good. When did we start letting outsiders dictate how we do business? Let them be mad. Soon theyll move on to the next thing to attack.

Anyone who becomes “deeply disturbed and upset” over some stupid pink banners needs to be in a mental institution.

In today’s world, someone will always have a problem with what you are doing. And that someone is always a liberal.

    Stay Conservative.

I’m so sick of “social justice warriors” getting their panties in a wad over ANYTHING that could possibly be offensive. Do they have anything better to do? I don’t have time to get offended even if I wanted to.
