The Broncos-Chargers game was full of firsts: Vance Joseph and Anthony Lynn made their head coaching debuts, Rex Ryan and Beth Mowins announced their first MNF game, and a ref called the Chargers “San Diego” for the first and definitely not last time this season. But perhaps the best first of all the first was the first of hopefully many on-screen appearances for one Sergio Dipp.

Nerves get the best of us all and English isn’t Sergio’s first language, so don’t act like you can’t see yourself pulling a Sergio if you were in his shoes. But this was still pure television gold.

At first, I thought something was wrong with this guy. He was talking like someone was supposed to take the mic from him but never showed up. I soon realized what was happening: Serge was actively shitting his pants all the way through his first second-language MNF sideline report. Like many great reporters before him, he tried his best to find the right words and fight through it after a rough start. After his breakdown — thinking of what a disappointment he was — his mind probably thought back to when he decided to become a reporter.

Simple classes? Lots of bitches? This shit is common sense! I’ll probably be the best sports reporter to ever do it. Nobody ever fucks up on camera. That will never happen to me.

Oh how wrong you were, Splergio. In his defense, I thought he was more entertaining in those few short seconds than Rex Ryan was with the entirety of his forced banter and lackluster announcing. He’s as good an announcer as he is a head coach, the fucking clown. Sergio’s fifteen seconds made up for an entire night of dry, unintelligible announcing, and his Twitter game showed us that he is self-aware and humble enough to see the humor in his uncomfortably hilarious broadcast.

Regardless of what the critics say, Sergio is here to stay (I hope)..
