Sig Ep At Virginia Tech Opens $5 Million House, Among Nicest In Nation
Virginia Tech’s Greek Village — called Oak Lane — is currently undergoing an expansion project, Phase IV, in which new fraternity and sorority houses are being constructed in addition to the previous 18 from the first three phases. The first house was recently completed and ready for move-in at the beginning of the 2013 spring semester — the house of Sigma Phi Epsilon.
It’s ridiculous. It’s $5,000,000 worth of ridiculous, actually.
Michael Cocke, President of Sigma Phi Epsilon, explained that both residents of the house and other members take full advantage of the multiple study lounges and conference rooms. According to Cocke, Virginia Tech contributed $3 million to the house, and the alumni of Sig Ep contributed $2 million to build the house.
You know Mike Cocke’s got a sweet presidential setup in there, too. “Hey, you wanna head upstairs and check out Mike Cocke’s chambers?” Who could say no to that? Hell, I’d follow Mike Cocke upstairs.
3 MM from the school, huh? Unbelievable. My school tried to purchase our house from us to use the land for some worthless academic nonsense and subsequently drive our dicks out of town, and they lowballed the shit out of us. I’m amazed by the university support at VT.
“The design is very intentional and allows for a lot of space for interaction,” said Kenneth Belcher, senior associate director for housing services. The new house is home to 35 brothers from the Sigma Phi Epsilon chapter and features several study lounges, a conference room, a comfortable living room with a Hokie stone fireplace, and a large kitchen and dining area for shared meals.
Take a look at some photos:
It’s also adjacent to a golf course. Buncha assholes.
So, I ask you, which other houses compete with this one?

But what this article doesn’t tell you is that the construction that’s still ongoing really fucks with your putting on the #3 green at the on-campus golf course.

13 years ago at 3:17 pmBy “among nicest in nation,” I am assuming that Dorn meant “among nicest in the world”

13 years ago at 6:56 pmLooks like a great house to road trip to and fuck up.
13 years ago at 7:19 pmI had the pleasure of moving into a newly renovated 3.5 mil house back in my day. I will say it was nice, but the house doesn’t make the chapter. If you are going to spend 5 mil, you probably should have incorporated a balcony in there somewhere. Good return on outdoor balconies.
13 years ago at 7:22 pmI think I liked the Pike house at Bama better than FSU.
13 years ago at 7:48 pmHey dorn, you know why they wanted your house? Because KA blows a fat D and it was just taking up space! Boom!!!
13 years ago at 9:58 pm2 million from Alumni? Hell, we’re lucky to get a hundred bucks from our alumni; nice support system we have, I know.
