Texas Greek Life Bands Together To Support Tiny, The Man Who Runs Security For Every UT Fraternity Party

This is one of those feel-good stories about students taking care of one of their own.

The security crew for your fraternity parties is one that you get close with. They make sure things go smoothly and help you avoid dealing with the police on any given party night. They become your best friends who you never hang out with.

Richard “Tiny” Clinton is a legendary security guy at the University of Texas, as he runs the company that provides security for all of the fraternity parties. His company has been the linchpin of UT’s Greek party scene since at least the 90s. He even has dabbled down in Bobcat land at Texas State University.

Tiny and all of the security guys were great at their jobs, made everyone feel safe, and the girls could count on them if needed. When I asked my roommate, who was a Texas Delt, about Tiny and how great of a job he and his crew did, he responded, “Couldn’t put a fake past that crew” before telling a very related story of his only interaction with Tiny. He said Tiny wouldn’t give him a wristband because his fake was terrible, so he got a girl he knew to give him hers and then had her go get a new wristband. Ten minutes later, Tiny was behind him with a game respects game smirk on his face — but he still took his wristband.

Unfortunately, Tiny has been diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer. Rather than sit around and watch their beloved Tiny battle through this on his own, however, members of Texas Greek life banded together to show their support for the man who has their back every weekend. Tiny does not have medical insurance, so his medical bills are through the roof. A GoFundMe was started to raise money to support him, though, and the response has been overwhelming.

As it stands right now, they’ve raised over $10K in a little under two hours, and a lot of that has to do with the UT Greeks sharing the page. Good to see them looking out for a man who has looked out for them so many times. Here’s hoping that Tiny can battle through this.
