I am a proud Texan, and can proudly claim that an ancestor of mine gave his life at the Alamo. However, although all the defenders were Texan by their commitment to the cause, very few were born in either Texas or Tennessee. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Alamo_defenders

The Lone Star State is truly great, and thank you “KA born and bred” for pointing this out. But please double-check your history next time.

I was referring to those committed to the cause and living on Texas soil. In my book if you are on Texas soil and give your life for a Texas cause then by god that makes you Texan. As for Tennessee, Davy Crockett brought with him 30 men and they were the last reinforcements to the garrison before the siege began. I know not everyone in the Alamo was from Texas but they all died Texas heroes.
