The “Bad Santa 2” Teaser Trailer Was Released And I Hope They Don’t Screw This Up

It’s been 13 years since the original Bad Santa warmed hearts across the world, and the teaser trailer for the sequel has finally been released.

I’m a big fan of the original. Billy Bob Thornton as a drunken, angry mall Santa, banging trashy moms in dressing rooms and puking on children. You can’t go wrong with that concept. There was also some emotional depth with that fat kid he got stuck taking care of (Billy Bob is always crushing the reluctant father figure role — see: the Bad News Bears remake). He was always dropping hard truth bombs on that KEEEIDD: “Well, wish in one hand and shit in the other and see which one fills up first.” I hope that kid makes a reappearance, if only to see how he looks now that he’s in his early twenties.

The first one was a perfect raunchy comedy with a perfect ending, so it definitely doesn’t need a sequel. But the formula worked back then, and it can work again. I hope they can build on it without tarnishing the original’s rep..
