The College Football Playoff Might Not Be Played On New Year’s Eve

CFP

Fortunately for Michigan State fans, last year’s edition of the college football playoff saw a 36 percent decline in overall viewership, a silver lining for Spartan faithful after their trouncing at the hands of former Coach Nick Saban and Alabama, but major revenue dip for ESPN. A win-win if you’re a Spartan and a hater of ESPN.

Now, after bizarrely assuming a semi-final barely expiring before the New Year’s countdown would not hamper ratings, the NCAA has realized the centuries old American tradition of getting off the couch to ring in the new year. The College Football Playoff committee is now thinking about moving the game away from New Year’s Eve.

From ESPN:

The fact that Hancock publicly addressed the possibility of moving the games off New Year’s Eve indicates it is “likely to happen,” a source said.

“There’s still work to be done,” a source said. “However, I doubt Bill would have said something if he didn’t think he could get the room [of the commissioners] there.”

With a new schedule yet to be determined, ratings can be expected to rebound by default, assuming the supposedly “mighty” Big 10 conference can muster a champion capable of improving upon the Spartans’ 38-0 humiliation.

Big Ten fans, at least not that many of us saw it live.

No, as usual Ohio State will look the part slaughtering the rest of the B10 until they slip up against at home against Michigan, one week after dominating Michigan State who will have somehow beaten Michigan a month earlier and thus the tie breaker will somehow end up belonging to Michigan State who will be allowed to feast on whatever weakling wins the west on their way to the CFP where they will be properly disposed of by an actual contender

The playoff will be an SEC, Pac12/Notre Dame, Big12 and ACC. The ACC is a joke, but a team might run the table, while the good Big10 teams (UM, MSU and OSU) will beat each other up.

Ohio State will win their 2nd undisputed championship this year and they won’t have to use any 3rd string QBs to fuck Saban again.

I personally think the playoff games should be much earlier (maybe even the first two bowls) and then have he national championship earlier so we don’t have to go two weeks without football and also move the championship to a Saturday instead of Monday

Oh, you’re telling me that nobody wants to watch a fucking football game at 11:30 on New Year’s Eve? This shocks me. I’m shocked!
