The Many Faces Of Devastation – Bama Fans React To Iron Bowl Thriller

Was that the most exciting ending to a college football game of all time? It’s tough to top Cal-Stanford’s “The band is out on the field!” game, but I’d say the 2013 Iron Bowl is safely in the top five, likely top three. It contained all the elements of a classic: bitter, in-state rivalry game, one second left with a potential game-winning field upcoming, national title implications, a shocking turn of events, unbridled elation, and of course, devastation.

Take a look at some of the devastation:

Now Dorn, let’s just agree that Auburn has a very hard schedule comparatively. And has held their own against some of the best teams in the nation, beating the number one team in the nation. And everyone can talk about our miracle wins but at the end of the day, we still won. And we still have football ahead of us against Mizzou, but you’re saying you wouldn’t give Auburn a second thought if Ohio St and FSU remain undefeated? We’re all biased towards our teams but are you biased against the SEC. What about 2011? Do you think a one loss Bama team should have played LSU or should it have been OSU or Stanford? I feel as though some of these ridiculous comments from Auburn fans, SEC fans and other people have got you riled up and thinking emotionally rather than logically. Do I believe if Auburn beats Mizzou pretty good and Ohio St scrapes by, that Auburn should get a shot? Yes I do, but I also attend Auburn. I also believe this just goes to show how much the playoff is needed. On another quick note I’m surprised nobody mentioned 2004 for Auburn when we were skipped over for USC and OU despite our same 12-0 record. Was that based on strength of schedule or just the voters blindly throwing darts at a board divided into 3’s with each team representing a quadrant. This is an extremely large comment but I would like to here your logical and unemotional opinion concerning pretty much everything up there

You cannot divide something into 3’s, and then classify the sections as “quadrants.” Unfortunately for you, this makes no logical sense and you are hereby classified as a moron.

Sorry I forgot to mention that both Utah and Boise St. were 11-0 at #6 and #9. So I guess you can throw one of them in there. As a matter of fact there were one loss teams (Texas and Cal) who were ranked ahead of Utah. Why was that? Strength of schedule maybe? I guess what I’m saying is what we already know. The BCS is not a great system and they should follow strength of schedule precedent.

And I cannot wait for the NCAA playoff so we won’t have to worry about this anymore. But it should be an 8 team playoff.

Bullshit. Gus out-coached Saban in the fourth-quarter, plain and simple. Saban, arrogant bastard he is, wanted to win by a landslide and made horrible play calls the last half of the game. At around 4 minutes left in the game, Alabama had an opportunity for a field goal at the 25 but instead tried to go for it on 4th down so they’d get a two touchdown lead; and failed. If they had kicked it they would have won by a field goal. At 1 second left in the game, Saban ignored the possibility of Auburn returning the ball and had no player on the field fast enough to run down Chris Davis. Malzahn exploited this and we won. If having an arrogant opponent is luck, then we are the luckiest sons of bitches on the planet. Otherwise, we played a better game. Accept your loss.
