The Tampa Bay Lightning Can’t Be Too Happy That These Trade Secrets Leaked Ahead Of Tonight’s Draft

An anonymous tipster hit our inboxes this afternoon with a little classified information from the Tampa Bay Lightning. Some kid was roaming through a hotel lobby when he noticed a piece of paper. That piece of paper happened to be the strategy that the Lightning will be utilizing during tonight’s 2016 NHL Draft.
Here it is.

And here’s the DM the Tampa Bay Lightning sent the kid on Twitter to confirm its legitimacy.

Honestly, I don’t see what the big deal is. The piece of paper is literally just trade ideas. Who cares if the Stars know that you’ve mentioned them as a team you’d be interested in dealing with to move up in the draft? I’m sure Jim Nill knows that multiple teams will be calling him about moving into their spot. Seeing this isn’t going to change his mind on what he’s going to be asking for.
I do find it fascinating how much detail they put into these trade ideas, though. They have historical trades done that give them a little heads-up on what they can actually acquire. Then they throw some odds on something. My guess is that it is the odds that they make the trade? I don’t know; I’m not a GM, just like whoever dropped this piece of paper probably won’t have their hockey job come tomorrow..
