Truck Carrying 6,000 Gallons Of Scotch Flips Over And Burns

Pappy Maverick, a character on the 1950s TV Western series Maverick once said, “Never cry over spilt milk. It could’ve been whiskey.”

A tanker truck in Woodbridge, New Jersey carrying 6,000 gallons of scotch whisky flipped over and caught fire. Authorities state that the truck was in the process of making a turn, bumped into a telephone pole, then came into contact with a parked car. After hitting the car, the truck rolled over and ignited.

What kind of scotch gets transported in a tanker truck? I always thought it came in barrels.

The local fire chief, Dan Gregan, is unsure if it’s the truck’s fuel or the whisky that ignited. There’s obviously a lot of room for speculation. Based on the circumstances of the accident, I’m inclined to think that the driver may have taken a gallon or so of scotch out of the tank before he started his trip that morning.

Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured, but damn, that’s a lot of whisky.
