UMass Amherst Alpha Sigma Phi Dies After Falling From NYC Four Seasons Hotel

2016 has gotten off to a rough start. We were only hours into the New Year when a North Texas Zeta was murdered while designated driving for friends. Now, news of yet another Greek death has been released.

University of Massachusett-Amherst sophomore and Alpha Sigma Phi brother Connor Cummings died Wednesday evening after falling from the side of the New York City Four Seasons hotel while attempting to take some pictures. As an avid photographer, this was his passion. Cummings allegedly attempted to climb the facade of the building, but lost his grip after rain began to fall. He fell several stories to his death.

His fraternity posted the following on Facebook following the announcement of his passing.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our brother, Connor Cummings. Connor was a sophomore Psychology…

As stated in the post, Cummings was an active member of his chapter. He loved taking pictures where ever he went, and his friends seemed to love him dearly.

From GazetteNet:

Ben Garner, a UMass junior from Conway, New Hampshire, said he and Cummings connected right away. Both members of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity at UMass, Garner said he took Cummings under his wing because he was drawn to his personality.

“He was always going 110 percent,” Garner said. “I don’t think he ever had a bad day and he saw the beauty in everything.”

**UPDATE**

One of Connor’s close friends emailed me the link to his Instagram account, which is full of some incredible photos that he took over the years. You can view it, HERE.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Connor’s friends, family, and brothers.

I live in Connor’s hometown and am friends with his brother and my younger brother was one of his best friends. The whole situation shocked everyone who was home for the holidays. We came together on New Year’s Eve and supported each other. Connor was a great kid and loved photography. Really talented and had a serious passion for it. He always lit up a room and will be greatly missed. Just know he was doing what he loved. RIP.
