UNC Fan Claims Intoxicated Clemson Fraternity Brothers Jumped Him At ACC Championship Game

The conclusion of the ACC Championship Game last Saturday night evoked fury from Tar Hell fans across the country. One North Carolina fan didn’t make it to listen to the controversial conclusion, and he is blaming a Clemson fraternity for the injuries that incapacitated him.

Ryan Pruett says he traveled to Charlotte for the game with the intentions of only tailgating. Early in the afternoon, three buses pulled into the parking lot and off came a stream of fraternity brothers who at first were very courteous and respectful. If his recollection of the events leading to his pummeling are correct, attitudes changed quickly and shit hit the fan with swiftness.

The Clemson students stole food from other tailgaters and even stole his friend’s generator.

One frat member attempted to steal a liquor bottle from a neighboring tailgate, Pruett said. The man dropped the bottle when a woman caught him, causing it to shatter.

During that same time, three men and a woman were near Pruett’s vehicle when they tore off his UNC flag.

Pruett said he exited his vehicle and confronted them.

Pruett said they apologized and blamed their actions on alcohol.

So, thus far we’re looking at a minimum of three counts of theft and at least one vandalism charge. Those charges alone are more than enough to qualify the chapter he’s referring to as certified degenerates. They were just working up to the big finale, though. It wasn’t over, yet.

Between 15 and 30 minutes later, Pruett said he and his friend were listening to the game in his vehicle. He said members of the fraternity tailgate opened the back hatch of his vehicle and started pouring beer in his car.

Pruett said he and his friend got out of their car and were met with 15 guys.

The next thing Pruett remembers is waking up in the hospital.

Pruett suffered a broken nose and his eye socket was broken. His friend was also injured when a beer bottle was shattered over his head. Pruett’s friend required stitches.

“I don’t remember talking to the police or getting in the ambulance,” Pruett said.

How fucking inebriated must someone get to reach a level of disregard that views this debauchery as acceptable? If these allegations are true, someone’s ass needs to be on the line. Check out the blows this guy took. Someone had their way.

The only thing that pushes me to pump the breaks before breaking out the pitchforks is this little line.

He admitted he had been drinking during the tailgate but had stopped two to three hours before the assault.

Clemson was contacted and has provided a statement regarding the incident.

Clemson spokeswoman Cathy Sams told Fox Carolina, “University police and administrators are investing allegations that Clemson students were involved in a disturbance in Charlotte while tailgating at the ACC Championship Game, and we have been told that at least one person was injured and property damaged. These allegations, if true, do not reflect the values and character of Clemson University or the majority of our students, and could lead to serious sanctions and possible criminal charges.”

Pruett originally accused Clemson’s Pi Kappa Alpha chapter for his trip to the ER, but an investigation by the university concluded that no Pikes were involved.

Here’s to hoping the facts come out, and, if true, proper consequences are handed down. That’s messed up..
