Just try it you need and open flame or spark to light gas… A charcoal grill then it would take you for ever and you would have wasted a good cigar…… and if you have a grill that’s only charcoal then sir you are not frat, try an upgrade and give that hobo his little smokey back
All you need to do to light a charcoal chimney is to ignite a wad of newspaper/ paper towels, which should be soaked in oil or lighter fluid. That’s entirely possible with a cigar.
