University of Colorado Tells Students Not To Wear Offensive Costumes, Collective Eye Roll Ensues

As the spectre of Halloween looms, the University of Colorado at Boulder’s Dean of Students, Christian Gonzales, has asked students to be as politically correct as possible in choosing their Halloween costumes.

Costumes that Gonzales believes should be avoided run the Grand Theft Auto gamut from blackface, to sombreros, to Native Americans, to poor people of any race, to criminals, or even sex workers. It is currently unknown if the standard girl costume of “Slutty [insert literally anything here]” would fall under the last category or not.

However, Colorado’s main concern is costumes of a different category altogether, a group of people oft-maligned in public without any representation in their corner: cowboys.

“When you dress up as a cowboy, and you have your sheriff badge on and a big cowboy hat, that’s not a representation of a cowboy, that’s not a representation of people who work on a ranch that’s not a representation of people who live in the West, that’s kind of a crude stereotype,” University spokesman Bronson Hilliard said.

Far too many people have tarnished the cowboy legacy up until this point, and it is about time someone took a stand. Thankfully we have quick draw Bronson to right this offensive steed.

Hilliard also stated that no students would be punished for wearing any of the previously mentioned costumes, all but ensuring that more people than ever will go dressed in blackface, wearing sombreros, or as stereotypical Indians, criminals, sex workers, “ghetto” people, “white trash,” or alas, even cowboys, just because.

Everything about this story makes me want to punch kittens.

I suggest the following: instead of dressing as an Indian chief or a cowboy or a mariachi band, wear the below costume instead, because according to the University of Colorado, it’s less offensive than a Pocahontas outfit.

I’m a little disturbed by the fact that you knew where to find a costume consisting entirely of dicks on the internet.

Thanks a lot Roger. Now I have to return my dick covered costume that I’ve had set aside for 4 months now, because God forbid, I show up in the same costume as a Mexican.
