I wouldn’t say that they are “notoriously liberal”, but I would say that a lot more protestants like baptists and methodist vote for conservative politicians.
For how much you guys brag about when your fraternity was founded you’re pretty quick to bash Catholicism. If you’re going to be Protestant, at least be episcopalian (sp).
Just cause Catholocism was started before the Protestant denominations has nothing to do with it. Catholics are known for being hypocrites which is why the Protestant denominations were started.
To be Catholic you have to go through RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) or confirmation if you were born into a Catholic family, both of which are several month programs where you learn about the faith, ending in a ritualistic ceremony. A several month educational period followed by an initiation ritual=FaF.
Let me give you some figures that Catholics should know and remember. For example, 12% of the 300 Protestant clergy surveyed admitted to sexual intercourse with a parishioner; 38% acknowledged other inappropriate sexual contact in a study by the United Methodist Church, 41.8% of clergy women reported unwanted sexual behavior; 17% of laywomen have been sexually harassed.
Meanwhile, 1.7% of the Catholic clergy has been found guilty of pedophilia. 10% of the Protestant ministers have been found guilty of pedophilia.
the statistics come from an article written by a prominent Jewish businessman from Cleveland named Sam Miller. Here’s the reference for you. You’re welcome.
The statistics were taken from an article in the New York Times over a year ago. The article was also written by a well-established Jew, not a Catholic.
Given that Catholics are the largest denomination of Christianity it is true that we unfortunately have a large number of lesser educated members who are liberal in their political orientation because of their position in society. Nevertheless, Catholicism as a whole is very much conservative, and priests all over America would have told you in ’08 that many of Obama’s political views were against the Catholic church. My priest even went so far to dedicate an entire sermon describing the fallacies of Healthcare reform. Perhaps if more of those liberal Catholics would go to mass every once in a while they would see the light. Excuse the lengthy post.
Catholics are notoriously liberal as a group.
