This whole topic is a huge overreaction. Understand that when you age a spirit for 6 years like Maker’s Mark, it is difficult to predict the company’s future popularity/sales at the time of production. With supplies diminishing faster than they had planned, they were forced add a touch of water to stretch their supply. Every batch still goes through the same extensive process as before. Unless you have an exceptional palette and you never dilute your Maker’s Mark with water, ice, or a mixer, you’re not going to notice the 3% change. So why don’t we all grab a bottle of Maker’s and go back to hating Pike in our free time.
Fuck Makers. I’ll give you my regularly made whiskey when you pry it from my cold, dead hands
