University Of San Diego Alpha Phi, Delt And Fiji Allegedly Involved In Sexually Exploitative 3-Way Hazing

University Of San Diego Alpha Phi, Delt, And Fiji Involved In Some Sexually Exploitative 3-Way Hazing

Back in February, members of Alpha Phi, Delta Tau Delta, and Phi Gamma Delta at the University of San Diego got involved in a little hazing. According to the investigation, this event was connected to the Alpha Phi Big Sister/Little Sister program. What went down was a little 3-way hazing involving alcohol (oh no!) and some sexual exploitation.

From The Vista:

The letter from Cynthia Avery, PhD., assistant vice president of Student Affairs, to the chapter cited confirmed hazing allegations.

“The incident included alcohol, blindfolds, sexual exploitation, etc.,” the letter stated.

Blindfolds AND sexual exploitation?! You have my ear. Are we talking about like forced sexual acts? If so, yeah that’s bad. Now if we’re talking about like a fun little lap dance or some shit like that, then come on. Just a little sexy time between some students. Details of the actual events won’t be released until the full investigation is complete.

The result of the investigation ended in Alpha Phi getting kicked off campus until 2019. The sorority was found to be in violation of two codes regarding hazing and harassment, intimidation, or hostility due to one’s gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or national origin.

Delt and Fiji? They were just hit with a slap on the wrist.

The two fraternities have each received sanctions for their involvement in the incidents. Fiji and DTD will undergo mandatory membership reviews which will be conducted by their international administrations. Both fraternities will also be required to participate in educational programs involving speakers on hazing, sexual assault, and bystander intervention. DTD also received probation from the university through May 31, 2017. Fiji will be suspended from all social events through December 31, 2016 and be suspended from participating in Fall 2016 membership recruitment.

Overall, not a bad punishment. Fiji has to go through a fall semester without pledges and a social calendar which sucks, but it could be a lot worse. Delt is just on probation so if they keep things clean over the next year, they’ll be fine.

Alpha Phi, on the other hand, will appeal the university’s decision.

Seems about par for the course that Delts and Fijis would have a 3-way amongst themselves

So is it a ganghaze or a hazebang? Trying to get the terminology right.

How is that a “slap on the wrist” punishment at all…. No pledges in the Fall is a HUGE crush for any fraternity, as good pledge classes every year are monumental for several reasons.. literally too many reasons to name. Probation until 2017 for Delt? That’s a whole year man, and for FIJI that’s another 7 months of probation.

I’m honestly flabbergasted how you consider any of this a slap on the wrist. Sucks for all. Fuck the administration.

I’ve seen fraternities get booted for shit less severe than this. So yes, I’d say it’s a slap on the wrist too.

The fact that they’re still on campus is a stroke of luck these days.

A lot of smaller schools are on deferred recruitment, so fall could be their smaller class if freshman can’t rush.

A 4 year suspension is pretty standard for hazing incidents, or 2 years after a successful appeal. Your reaction, however, is exactly why this is an appropriate punishment. By the way, going with your “fall is everything” perspective, there isn’t a lesser punishment than 1 fall term.

Freshmen at USD can’t rush until spring. Fall pledge classes are 10 guys max. Missing out on fall rush won’t hurt them at all

Honestly if you need a sorority to help you haze your pledges you clearly are a shitty pledge marshal

Not quite. You said above that their Nationals is doing a membership review. Knowing their Nationals, anybody who isn’t a little sniveling bitch is going to get kicked out.

I want to get an erection from this but unfortunately by todays standards of sexual exploitation the girls probably just had the door held for them or something and didn’t like it
