Texas, South Carolina, Georgia, and Arizona picking up house seats in the census while New Jersey, Massachusetts, and New York lose them. Good luck in 2012 libs. TFM.
Except for that fact that the demographic of the population that was picked up in the last ten years is predominantly hispanic. And as you know, hispanics usually vote Democratic. As you can imagine, it’s probably not as good for Republicans as you think.
All of those states have republican controlled state legislatures. Therefore the republicans have the ability to draw the district boundaries (gerrymandering) in a way that groups the new democrats *hispanics* together in a way that limits their impact in other districts therefore securing the majority for the republicans.
Hispanics are an extremely difficult demographic group to analyze politically. Yes, historically they have voted Democratic. However, as more Hispanics become educated and interested in politics, you will see that Hispanics, like many naturalized immigrants, tend to have conservative values (60-70% of LEGAL Hispanic Citizens are against an Amnesty and illegal immigration). Why? Because Hispanics are Catholics, and most Catholics are Conservative.
Also, the chances of a widespread amnesty have been killed(Dream Act failed and GOP now controls Senate). That being said, we don’t have to worry about 10 million voters coming out of nowhere and voting for the liberal geeds.
The GOP will now control the House of Representatives in 2012 not the Senate they just picked up seats. And the Republican Senators can honestly go kill themselves for blocking the 9/11 first responders act that was fucking disgusting.
hey asshole who said the GOP blocked the 9/11 responders bill… news for you they didn’t block it. they only wanted time to make changes and asked that it be brought up via a committee you dipshit. and i’m from NY and lost people on 9/11 and I agree with the GOP.
You’re a fucking idiot the state is still run by liberals. Losing seats means less people going to Washington to run the country not Massachusetts. You probably liked Scott Brown for the fact he drove a truck and not on the issues he ran on. And Brown is doing a damn good job.

I live in Massachusetts and the state legislature is not controlled by Republicans. Moreover, Barney Frank’s district is probably the most gerrymandered district in the Commonwealth, if not the Nation.
Both sides draw districts to their advantage. He’s exactly right that a lot of states just got strong Republican legislatures to redraw those districts.
Reagan was a leader in drawing blacks into majority minority districts that guaranteed they’d get a few black reps in congress, but that many more districts would be secure for Republicans, and got blacks to like the idea. That’s FAF. We just need to repeat it with Hispanics, then over time get more of those hispanics to vote conservative.
Holy shit, you know what gerrymandering is? You must be super smart! And if you think Latino-Americans vote Democrat, you probably haven’t paid any attention in the political science classes you are more than likely failing. You’re the kind of person that makes liberals call conservatives “stupid.”

14 years ago at 7:54 amDemocratic or not, most of the Latinos immigrate illegally so most of them can’t vote.
14 years ago at 2:48 pmWhile I think you’re right, that does not mean that they’re registered to vote or allowed to because they are not US citizens.
