After the University of Tennessee’s diversity office decided to encourage the use of gender-neutral pronouns and support something called “Sex Week,” its… or should I say “xe’s” funding was cut.

Yeah, supposedly lawmakers want state funds to go more towards education than this stuff. Those lawmakers are total jerks, right?!

From NBC News:

The controversy started last year with two posts on the diversity office’s website that promoted the use of gender-neutral pronouns and inclusive holiday celebrations. Republican lawmakers were outraged and threatened to pull funding from the office, causing several student-run protests on campus.

The bill was changed several times before the final version proposed reallocating the diversity funds to a minority engineering scholarship program.

The bill also proposed banning the university from using state funds to support its annual Sex Week, which sought to ‘foster a comprehensive and academically-informed conversation about sex, sexuality, and relationships,’ according to the school’s website.

Hmm. Realllllly thought Sex Week was going to be cooler than that. I had much, much higher expectations. Gonna sit that one out.

Okay, the loss of jobs is shitty in this situation, but the employees will reportedly still be getting paid through June 30. That actually sounds like a best case scenario. Plus, the funding is now going to a minority engineering scholarship program, which sounds like a much much much more useful thing than it going to someone who spends their days telling people how to use ne, ve, ze or xe correctly.

Agree or disagree with the lawmakers’ decisions on this one, I’m glad someone has stood up to these gender-neutral pronouns and said, “yeah, this is dumb AF and we’ve got more important issues in this world. Can we just go ahead and nip this in the bud? K thx.”

Question, though: Do we have to protest EVERYTHING?

Protests are so last fall.

trying to get rid of gender specific pronouns might be the stupidest cause anyone has ever undertaken. We had this way of doing things since probably before humans had a written language. And because roughly 1 in every 200 people don’t like the fact that biology creates two genders, that we should get rid of he and she?

Ever wonder if Social Justice Warriors (SJW) have their hatred aimed at the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) for having their letters first? We already know these total bafoons dislike math, econ, and biology, ya know, because they make sense. Just a thought…

Also I’m moving to Tennessee and plan to trigger the shit outta these sallies.
