VIDEO: Emory President Makes Bold Statement In The Battle Over Trump Chalkings

Emory University President James Wagner is both the hero we deserve, and the hero that we need right now. For those of you who don’t recall, Emory was recently plagued by nonsensical protesting after a pro-Trump message, written in sidewalk chalk, appeared on campus.
On top of complaining to the university for several days to help them with their “pain,” they also proceeded to raise some fairly unintelligent questions regarding the matter; one student, who I assume has never taken a history class, could not seem to understand why a series of swastikas painted on an AEPi house at the school last year received such a quick and harsh response but these Trump chalkings did not – the anti-Semitic symbol of the Nazis, or a showing of support for a presidential candidate, you decide what’s worse.
Anyways, Wager, who I assume, like the majority of us, is tired of dealing with coddled, entitled college kids, made a bold statement regarding the matter, by writing “EMORY STANDS FOR FREE EXPRESSION!” in chalk on the same sidewalk where the Trump message appeared.
A student organization on campus that held multiple demonstrations petitioning for the support of free speech for students backed up the actions of Wagner by stating, “We are doing this to reaffirm Emory’s commitment to freedom of speech and expression. By no means would writing Trump in chalk ever be considered so severe that it could be considered harassment,” amen to that my friend.
Props to Wager for not folding and giving in to ridiculous protester demands as many university presidents have recently done when faced with similar issues. We can only hope that the handling of this situation can serve as a precedent for other schools who face similar issues. As someone who is frankly tired of hearing these immature children whine and complain about their feelings, a small victory such as this is extremely refreshing..
Awesome move, hopefully that attitude will spread
10 years ago at 1:33 pmI stand by his actions, but gotta admit it’s kinda sad to see such common sense labeled as heroic these days
10 years ago at 5:51 pmAwesome. But since he’s such a good dude, you could at least do him the courtesy of spelling his name right. “Wager” is in here instead of “Wagner” at least twice.
10 years ago at 1:33 pmI heard Wagner loves cock
10 years ago at 1:51 pmGo back to class. High school usually ends around 2 so the days’ almost over for you

10 years ago at 1:34 pm“You can bitch all you like, just keep telling mommy and daddy to pay tuition”
10 years ago at 1:35 pmMom and dad don’t pay these complaining student’s tuition. Most of them are loaning money from a broke government to take classes for jobs that aren’t hiring in fields lIke social justice. All in all though, I’m sure Bernie will fix everything for them.
10 years ago at 1:42 pmThey’re aspiring to become high earning Social Justice Warriors
10 years ago at 1:43 pmIs it still considered earnings if it’s a handout?
10 years ago at 3:55 pmGood on him I’m tired of these entitled brats
10 years ago at 1:35 pmnothing worse than a spoiled liberal college student
10 years ago at 5:11 pmSo Emory picks which Constitutional rights it honors (“free speech”) while scorning others (“free association” in case of the persecution of the unrecognized fraternity known as APES). And, really, even their conception of “free speech” is limited. Not exactly a profile in courage.
10 years ago at 1:35 pmWe need to line up our kindergarten students in bows and toes formation while they chant the sticks and stones nursery rhyme.
10 years ago at 1:37 pmWe should all get fucked up tonight to celebrate this win
10 years ago at 1:41 pmSomeone get this guy a medal
10 years ago at 1:45 pmEmory stands for #buttstuff2016
