VIDEO: Former Hedge Fund Manager Says Going To College Is A Waste Of Time

Is college worth it? That’s a question that has been on people’s minds as of late. In the past, going to college was almost a prerequisite to a successful career. You’d graduate, get a good job, and work your way up through the ranks. However, that isn’t the case anymore, mainly due to technology and how the economy has affected job prospects for those straight out of college.
Is having a degree a waste of money? James Altuchner, the former founder of Formula Capital, sat down with Business Insider to answer that question.
It’s hard to say where I side on this argument. I have friends who didn’t go to college who are now making big bucks, but I also have friends who didn’t go to college who are still living with their parents and selling weed.
For those who go into business, finance, economics, law, or medicine, getting a degree can give you a leg up on those who don’t have one when entering your field. Just because you graduate doesn’t mean you have to stop learning, either.
The lesson here is that unless you’re driven to make something of yourself through self-education, it’s best to get a formal education of some kind to keep you from becoming a failure..
