VIDEO: Legendary Monty Python Comedian John Cleese Drops The Mic On PC Lunatics

Aside from being one of the funniest men alive, and quite possibly one of the funniest people who has ever lived, John Cleese appears to have his head on straight as well (even if his walk is a little silly). In an exclusive sit-down with Big Think, Cleese shares his thoughts on how destructive PC culture is, and how it could spell the demise of comedy.

Couldn’t have said it better myself (though this is John Cleese we’re dealing with here, so that doesn’t surprise anyone).

In my opinion, the most interesting (and troubling) of Cleese’s ramblings is his comparison of PC culture to George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four. Think about it: if society as a whole has the power to dictate what can or cannot be said within it, is society itself not Big Brother? Big Brother has always been thought to represent some sort of government entity, but PC culture is showing us that we might be our own Big Brother. It sounds like some sort of fucked-up Alabama backwoods incest type shit, but it’s what’s happening right now across the country.
