VIDEO: TFM Gets Weird On A River Float With BeatBox Beverages

BeatBox Beverages is changing the bag wine game forever. They exploded in popularity by offering sweet and delicious flavors served up in their signature easy-to-slap boombox container (the endorsement they got from Mark Cuban after appearing on Shark Tank didn’t hurt, either).

For all the success they’ve had, the founders thought it was important to give back to those who were with them from the beginning.

Last weekend, BeatBox loaded a party bus full of 20 friends and a stockpile of their prime boxed wine cocktail, shipped them out to San Marcos, Texas, and threw them in the river for a day of floating, bag-slapping, and debauchery. They were kind enough to bring WJ Cope and I along for the ride.

Sun, water, babes, and all the alcohol you can handle (or, in my case, couldn’t handle). What’s not to love?

It all started back in 2013, when founders Justin Fenchel, Aimy Steadman, Brad Schultz, Jason Schieck and Daniel Singer grew tired of the typical, boring boxed wines available. They decided to empty a Franzia bag, fill it back up with their own sweet and delicious concoction, and bring it to a pool party at the University of Texas at Austin. The recipe was such a hit, random people were offering them cash to slap the bag. They continued to experiment with different flavors, eventually setting up a warehouse full of tubes and beakers and graduated cylinders that Fenchel tells me looked like something “straight out of Breaking Bad.”

As the bags of homemade wine exploded in popularity across the city, the founders combined their love of alcohol and good times with their passion for music to create their signature, easy-to-slap boombox container. Just push down on the spout and pour it into your mouth. No twisting required.

Today, after their success on Shark Tank, Beatbox is sold in stores across middle America, from Texas to Wyoming. They keep getting bigger, too, constantly adding new, tasty flavors like Texas Sweet Tea and Cranberry Limeade.

The river float was one of many events the founders hold to give thanks to the people who helped make it all possible.

I had a good time. Too good of a time.

Aftermath:

Thanks for having us, BeatBox! See y’all on the next one.
