Just because many of the things we consider “fratty” end up in geeds hands and lose their exclusiveness doesn’t mean it becomes less fratty. So bow ties are still fratty. GDI’s just try to take them for their own.
Bow Ties are Formal (White or Black Tie). Neck Ties are for Informal and Smart Casual. Open collar is Business Casual and I would probably throw in the more colorful bow ties in this category because they’re kind of a casual kicking it while sipping a beer sort of thing. It could also be Smart Casual, but that’s sort of a hybrid category which is basically your prep school style.
