Week 14 College Football Picks: There’s A Glitch In The Matrix Of College Football
There must be a glitch in the CFB Matrix. As Missouri Tiger fans, we stand here again, one game away from the SEC championship. We were in the same position last year, and it seems as though Missouri always finds a way to keep their fans on pins and needles. Coming off of another solid 7-4 week, we would gladly lose every single one of these picks and cash associated for a Missouri victory. Since the games aren’t actually correlated in that manner, we’ve included 11 other high profile games for you to win money on if you’re smart enough to follow the advice below:
Lock Of The Week
Utah @ Colorado
Spread: Utah -9
TSG Pick: Utah -9
Summary: Utah is coming off of a tough week giving up 42 points against red-hot Arizona. Colorado didn’t actually look too bad last week despite losing to Oregon 44-10. In what we assume to be senior day for Colorado, Vegas has given us a gift with this nine-point spread. Although the first half may be close, Utah will cover this spread by more than a touchdown.
TCU @ Texas
Spread: TCU -6.5
TSG Pick: TCU -6.5
Summary: Even with Texas playing great as of late, this spread seems pretty absurd. TCU, a team that is averaging basically 46 pounds a game with only one loss, should be favored by more than a touchdown. Even while writing this, I am completely lost as to why this spread is so small. Even with signs swaying against it, we will take the Horned Frogs down six and a half to start this game.
Nebraska @ Iowa
Spread: Pick ‘em
TSG Pick: Nebraska
Summary: A lot of sites opened this game up with Nebraska being a one-point favorite, only to erase the deficit and make it a pick ‘em. It seems as though Pelini is impervious even on the hot seat, and we aren’t going to allude to the idea that his job is on the line, however this game means a lot more to the Nebraska faithful/boosters than it does for Iowa. After a disappointing loss to Minnesota last week, the Huskers bounceback and find a way to win this Big 10 game on the road.
Arkansas @ Missouri
Spread: Arkansas -2
TSG Pick: Mizzou +2
Summary: Somehow, some fucking way, Mizzou found a way to potentially repeat an appearance in the SEC championship. Shout out to Doug Gottleib on this one!
We only had a chance to see the score of the 30 to zip thrashing the Razorbacks laid on Ole Miss last week, but after watching the game again, Mizzou has a great shot of covering the underdog spread at home this Friday. Arkansas was gifted with multiple turnovers and drops from the Rebels and even had the chance to play against Ole Miss’s second and third string quarterbacks. Rumor has it Arkansas may play a backup quarterback, which means the Razorbacks will either need to run every play to combat Mizzou’s defensive line; arguable the best in the nation.
Stanford @ UCLA
Spread: UCLA -5
TSG Pick: UCLA -5
Summary: We’ve been fading UCLA all season, but this spread isn’t high enough to bet against the Bruins at home. Brent Hundley already announced he is leaving after this year for UCLA, and a big name opponent without one of their best players may be the time for the UCLA quarterback to cap off an up and down season. UCLA wins by 10.
Michigan @ Ohio State
Spread: Ohio State -20.5
TSG Pick: Michigan +20.5
Summary: Valid question, if Ohio State wins out but isn’t invited to the inaugural Playoff, will we hear Urban Meyer talk about an SEC bias? He’s smarter than to blatantly contradict everything he said at Florida, right? Realistically, it seems as though we are going to find out. Although Ohio State will pull this one out, three touchdowns may be hard to cover in one of the greatest CFB rivalries known to date.
Florida @ Florida State
Spread: FSU -7.5
TSG Pick: UF +7.5
Summary: Florida somehow upset Georgia by some random act of accordance; however FSU just wouldn’t let that happen. It seems Jameis and his boys have adopted the game plan of sleep walking through the first three quarters of a football game only to wake up and bury any hopes of an upset in the final 10 minutes of ball. With the Florida Gators playing with absolutely nothing to lose, all of the stops will be pulled to keep this ball game close. Boston College forced FSU to kick a last second field goal to remain unbeaten. Will we see a repeat of that this week? Also, as the University of Florida athletic director, if your team somehow beats your in state rival, do you apologize to Muschamp and ask if he wants to keep his job for next year?
Mississippi State @ Ole Miss
Spread: Miss State -2
TSG Pick: Miss State -2
Summary: This game had huge implications a few short weeks ago for both teams; however all that Ole Miss has to play for now is completely fucking up Mississippi State’s playoff run. If you are a Rebel or a Rebels fan, I guess that means a lot. Although Ole Miss is bouncing back from a horrid game filled with mistakes, turnovers, and drops that looked a lot worse than it actually was, weekly adjustments won’t serve them the victory against the Bulldogs. No matter how close this game is in the fourth quarter, Mississippi State will find a way to win by at least a field goal.
Notre Dame @ USC
Spread: USC -7
TSG Pick: USC -7
Summary: Both teams enter this rivalry game 7-4. However, Notre Dame has lost three of their last four. Although ND was one blown call away from ending Florida State’s win streak, the Golden Domers have been overrated all season. We understand what a heart breaker it may be coming so close to beating the defending national champs, but since that game, ND’s season has been a downward spiral piloted by turnover machine Everett Golson. USC at home wins this one by 10.
Baylor @ Texas Tech
Spread: Baylor -24.5
TSG Pick: Baylor -24.5
Summary: Baylor is knocking on the CFB playoff door. Understand this, these last two weeks have catastrophic impacts on the final four teams selected after conference championship week. With the Big 12 not playing a championship, Baylor must complete their resume this week and next against a tough Kansas State opponent. This may be Baylor’s last chance to really light up the scoreboard at will; believe they will take full advantage of it.
Auburn @ Alabama
Spread: Bama -9.5
TSG Pick: Bama -9.5
Summary: This one was a toss up. The line originally opened with Auburn an 11 point underdog, which we felt was a pretty safe bet. With the money flowing in for Auburn, and the spread reducing to less than a touchdown and a field goal, we had to switch the pick over to Bama. The Tide has really found their stride after their stumble against Ole Miss, and we are hoping they will be forced to score touchdowns because of their inept place kicking game.
Oregon @ Oregon State
Spread: Oregon -20
TSG Pick: OSU +20
Summary: It’s a foregone conclusion that this will be the last game Mariota faces against their in-state rival. The Civil War almost always ends up being something to remember, and these Beavers in Corvallis are a completely different team than they are on the road. OSU will keep this a three possession game all night.
We wanted to jump on that Arizona/Arizona State game, but the line still hasn’t been released from Vegas. We will tweet our pick come game time. Follow us @tokensportsguys for in-depth, in-game, and inebriated football commentary all weekend. .

10 years ago at 12:30 pmWell they’re certainly the underdog here so being a dark horse in this game is completely acceptable.
