I am not usually one who laughs at violence against women,
especially since that minimizes a serious affront to the human
rights of safety and personal agency that I hold dear.
I mean, I would almost say that I’m a feminist except, you know,
I know that would describe a person who believes
in ending gender-based discrimination, violence, and oppression.
Listen, Will Ferrell is a funny, funny man. He has made me laugh in the past.
That means he is smart and insightful and cannot be mistaken.
Also, as @GotBaldFratZombie pointed out, this can’t be “her first time
getting balls to the face,” which, aside from being a stellar zinger
(great job @GotBaldFratZombie),
also provides another irrefutable argument as to why this video is lighthearted fun:
in all likelihood this woman has given at least one blowjob,
the obvious consequence of which is getting hit in the face
with a basketball hurled by Will Ferrell, funny man.
Therefore, it probably didn’t hurt.
And to all those humorless buzzkills out there,
this does not contribute to rape culture just because
it undermines the severity of violence against women
