Wisconsin AEPi Jumps Into River To Save Drowning Man

wisconsin

David Blauzvern, 23, was going about his morning run like any other day when he came across a dire situation. A man was flailing around and screaming in the East River, and Blauzvern acted quickly and decisively to save him.

From Daily News NY:

The 23-year-old investment banker was the first of three good Samaritans who, without a second of hesitation, fearlessly jumped into the river near E. 10th St., following after a suicidal man who had decided to end it all.

“I was running along the path and there was a crowd of 10 or 15 people looking out on a guy in the water flailing his arms and screaming,” Blauzvern, from Roslyn, L.I., told the Daily News. “I jumped in and held him up until a police boat showed up and brought him in.”

“There wasn’t really much thought behind it,” he said. “You see a guy drowning, you jump in to help.”

The drowning man appeared to be suicidal, and was incoherent when Blauzvern jumped in to rescue him. He was taken to a hospital following the incident.

How about that? Blauzvern risking his own life to save that of another. If that’s not a true embodiment of one’s fraternal values, then I don’t know what is. It’s comforting to know that there are people like him around that will do what it takes to help out a stranger in need.

I wonder what’s wider: the river they jumped in, or intern sickly’s thigh gap

Fuck you. And this isn’t the sarcastic fuck you we see so often on this website. A man jumped into a river to save a stranger’s life without a second thought, and you’re going to make a joke about the aforementioned river in an attempt to get up-votes? Are you serious? For some context, a water rescue is no fucking joke. If that person is disoriented and flailing around, there’s a chance they can push the rescuer underwater until he/she drowns in an attempt to stay afloat. This act displays the character traits that fraternities should, and in many cases do, instill in men before sending them into society. RFM

Also, this may be an unpopular opinion, but fuck it. I know Dorn doesn’t allow any comments on the Ask Sydney article, and this irks me. People are going to comment about it, so just open up the comment section in that article. It disappoints me that this causes readers to use the next article that comes along to comment on the preceding one- especially when it’s a story like this that should be celebrated.

With regards to Sydney, the readers on this site do make fun of you, and in part that comes with working at a satirical website. At the same time, I acknowledge that certain remarks go way too far. There are some deranged people with no moral compass or sense of when enough is enough, and apparently a few such individuals comment here. The question containing the reference to Xanax and rape is one example. I’m not saying I always get a laugh out of your articles, but people need to learn that there’s a point when a comment/question goes too far.

Also, don’t just tell people to “kill yourself” or “chug bleach”. These have been played out, and honestly despicable. It’s possible I may have been guilty of one of these way back, but at this point it seems like an unnecessary filler as a way to say “I don’t like this”. If you don’t like it, chances are other people didn’t either. Come up with a humorous insult, or maybe just don’t post.

      Tl;dr

Don’t make jokes about the heroic acts of others doing what you probably wouldn’t do if you were in the same situation.

Allow us to comment on the Ask Sydney article, because people are going to comment about it elsewhere anyways.

Learn where the fucking line is. The Xanax question went too far, and I’m sure that many others she receives do as well.

Don’t tell people to kill themselves. It’s a shitty thing to do, and you don’t know where their head’s at.

Pretty serious for a satirical website, I know.
Sorry for the length, not sorry for the message.

I kept trying to get to the like button, but this just went on and on. However completely agree. This shit with the intern needs to stop. I get it, but for fucks sake is it that big of a deal, and also this is another human being. Have some basic respect, some people can’t be helped but some comments directed at her are just wrong.

Obligatory RFM since everyone (including me) seems to be too busy talking about Intern Schmidt

Intern Sydney jokes are stale and were never really funny to begin with. Let’s turn our hate to Wally Byrton and when he’s going to accept my invitation to throw fisticuffs.

Dorn pads the like number later on to make it look like we enjoy the article. It’s up to over 550 now.
