Woman Copyrights Boobs To Get Naked Pics Offline

Suddenly, that “Property of [insert your name here]” tattoo you got on your left butt cheek over spring break doesn’t seem so stupid.

One unidentified woman was forced to copyright her own chesticles after her ex posted naked photos of her online. She became yet another victim of the growing online trend known as “Revenge Porn,” where salty exes (usually men) post their former lover’s goodies on websites specifically catered to enacting retribution in the form public embarrassment. However, only 17 states have laws against the act, meaning the girl had to get creative to remove her exposed sweater puppies from the prying eyes of the internet’s expansive and dedicated pornographic community.

Her solution? Slap a copyright on those bad boys and file a takedown notice under the Digital Millenium Copyright Act. To do this, she had to provide a copy of the material she wanted protected for the Copyright Office, which probably led to the most interesting day of one clerk’s life. The woman found this understandably mortifying. She now had to unwillingly expose her “materials” once more — this time to the government.

Since then, the woman has been able to get some websites to remove her photos, but she says that new copies pop up every time she Googles her name. They don’t call it going viral for nothing.

There are probably more than a few of you reading this who have at least thought about posting the nudes of a woman who has scorned you online. Don’t do it. Not just because it’s a petty and pathetic means of revenge, but because the operator of one revenge porn site in California just got sentenced to 18 years in prison. Politicians vowed to make all revenge porn cases a top priority, so even though you are only a contributor to the website, your ass could be in serious trouble down the road (like the women in the photos, the name of the poster is often online for good).

In a world where technology is complicating relationships — and former relationships — more than ever, we men have to get old-fashioned with our revenge on the fairer of genders.
