World Sees Decrease In Alcohol Consumption — America Sees Increase

The rest of the world can’t hang.

While other nations across the globe saw a decrease in drinking for the first time in 15 years, America saw an increase.

North America is the exception to recent global declines and hasn’t seen the drop in alcohol consumption. In 2015, North Americans bought 33.8 billion liters of alcohol, an increase from 33.1 billion liters in 2014. The continent has had a stronger economy, plus the popularity of microbreweries and the craft beer movement has given alcohol sales a boost, said Euromonitor International’s senior alcoholic drinks analyst Spiros Malandrakis.

Get. At. Us.

Better economy. Better craft brew scene (seriously, what city in America doesn’t claim to have a “lively craft brew scene?”). Better drinkers overall.

Next time some pussy tries to tell you, “How can we be the best country in the world? We’re not even in the top 10 for education!” tell them to get fisted. Then, hit ’em with this study.

    More people are drinking Beer and Wine than hard liquor these days which would contribute to overall liters of alcohol being up while actual consumption could be flat or even down.

        There are 14.3 ounces of pure alcohol in a 30 rack of natty. There are 20.3 ounces of pure alcohol in a handle of Popov. Therefore it will take 1.4 thirty racks of Natty to equal one handle of Popov. Frat math.
