WVU’s FIJI Suspended After Police Catch Pledges Abducting Their Pledge Educator
We remind pledges hourly of their utter incompetence and their inability to ever succeed in life. It’s our duty as actives. Of course, the vast majority of the time it is nothing more than an attempt to get under their skin in a strange motivating technique, but in the case of WVU’s Phi Gamma Delta, the pledges may truly be some of the most idiotic members in the chapter.
Mogantown cops received a call Wednesday night after witnesses reported the possible abduction of a young male by seven other men. Once police arrived, they realized it was the planned abduction of the pledge educator, and the fall pledge class was behind it.
From WV Metro News:
WVU’s Office of Student Life made the announcement Friday morning, two days after seven Phi Gamma Delta members participated in a prank that witnesses confused for an attempted abduction. Witnesses notified MECCA911 of what appeared to be a dispute on Spruce Street and Forest Avenue. When police arrived they found Christopher Grace, 21, of Arlington, Va. in the truck of a car, bound with duct tape. Grace was freed from the vehicle.
The last thing any of those pledges wanted was to have their pledge educator released from that vehicle. They knew they were fucked up, down, left, and right. Their last hope at avoiding the painful repercussions associated with a ridiculous police encounter was that that trunk never opens, and we all just forget it ever happened.
The university didn’t find the incident humourous in the least – as is tradition – and called out the chapter’s stupidity in lengthy statement.
Roy Baker, associate dean of students and director of Greek Life at WVU did not consider the incident a prank.
“The pledge class had a planned event where they were going to take their new member educator out because it was his birthday. The new member educator knew it was going to happen but it should not have happened in the first place. When they were in the process of kidnapping the new member educator and his best buddy here at the university is when the people called the police.”
Morgantown Police continue to investigate the incident.
“None of its should have happened. Pledges should be educated during this time, not functioning as brothers or hosting events,” said Baker. “The new member educator and chapter president and the whole group should have said ‘no, this is not what you’re going to do.’”
“It’s not what WVU stands for and it has nothing to do with what it means to be a member of a fraternity or sorority,” Baker said.
I doubt the university or police department need to submit their our consequences into the mix. Those pledges will be taken care of. It’ll be a mistake they never make again.
The chapter may not participate in any social functions, nor may they have any contact with their new member class while under suspension. An investigation is ongoing..

Ballsy move pledges. Still fucking stupid though
10 years ago at 9:56 amWay more stupid than ballsy
10 years ago at 11:13 amthe word you guys are looking for is rational. it was not a rational decision.
10 years ago at 5:49 pmThere’s a word for that. It’s irrational.
10 years ago at 11:02 pmGreat, so if they get kicked off that will be the 4th one in 2 years here
10 years ago at 9:58 amThat’s next level stupid
10 years ago at 10:01 amIf you’re going to do wrong, never have the pledges do it.
10 years ago at 10:07 amI honestly don’t get why this is so bad. Chill the fuck out.
10 years ago at 10:09 amDoesn’t every chapter play this game to some effect?
10 years ago at 8:05 pmThis article doesn’t accurately report these pledges’ stupidity. Fuckery took place at 11:30 AM directly in front of an open barber shop.
10 years ago at 10:23 amAnd across the street from an open day care, as they proceeded to go 45 miles over the speed limit
10 years ago at 9:36 amLeave it to the administration to blow up a needle in a haystack.
10 years ago at 10:56 amChill my boys were just trynna have fun
10 years ago at 11:03 amYour boys are mad stupid
10 years ago at 5:26 pm“Mad”
10 years ago at 11:39 pmIs it really kidnapping if he knew it was going to happen?
10 years ago at 11:20 amNo it really isn’t. The only illegal act was riding in a trunk which is a traffic citation in most states. The University is trying to govern actions it has absolutely no right to govern. It would not have made any statement if these students were a member of non-Greek organizations (NGO). Believe it or not, people “kidnap” their friends on a regular basis. Unfortunately, college administrators have never had a friend.
10 years ago at 12:00 pmIt was more of a rhetorical question. Thanks for your input though.
10 years ago at 1:06 pmI was using your rhetorical question to make a point. This school is funding an investigation into a traffic ticket. Students will have to pay increases tuition fees because WVU thinks traffic tickets warrant an “investigation.” Just let that sink in.
10 years ago at 1:52 pmStill don’t know what the problem is if no one is pressing charges. Why is everyone such an uptight asshole
10 years ago at 11:33 amThe pledges are getting charge with disorderly conduct by the DA
10 years ago at 11:37 amI still think that it shouldn’t even matter unless the people involved were hurt or press charges. And we say we’re a “free” country
