VIDEO: Tempers Flare In Yale vs. Rochester National Squash Championship

Apparently there is more to Yale than just well-dressed, proper acting students whose idea of fun is heavily centered around memorizing Adam Smith’s Wealth of Nations. As it turns out, they also have a real powerhouse of a squash team.
The Bulldogs of Yale beat out the University of Rochester on Monday to capture the ever-coveted Potter Cup, which is squash talk for national championship. The real story, however, because let’s face it, the population of squash lovers is dwindling, is the fight that nearly erupted over the ever so dramatic ending.
The incident occurred when the Bulldog player, in a typical gentlemanly Yale manner, attempted to shake the hand of his opponent. However, instead of getting the usual, “Good game, bro,” if the word “bro” is even acceptable to use at such prestigious and respectable institutions, he is met with a middle finger and what appears to be a “fuck you” from Rochester player. What ensues next is a few jabs to the chest, and a large Asian boy placing his Rochester teammate in a choke hold, attempting to hold him back.
Who knew that so much animosity and hatred couple be cooped up inside of a kid wearing short shorts, a headband, and rec specs. I mean honestly, the dude looks like he’s more apt to throw down in a game of Dungeons and Dragons than to get involved in any sort of physical altercation. Regardless, it may be worth circling the Yale vs. Rochester rematch next season on your calendars. After sitting on a hot bed of emotions and anger for an entire off-season, who knows what kind of tempers may flare..
This was stupid
10 years ago at 4:43 pmThat Yale “champion” should check his filthy white privilege. He should feel ashamed for beating a minority competitor from a lower-seeded team. Society is disgusting.

10 years ago at 5:47 pmI go to Rochester and one of my brothers is on the team, so let me put things into perspective. The Yale player had been talking shit to our guy the entire match (which was left out of this article) and then after winning was bragging in his face. So the middle finger was justified. The Yale fucker was asking for it all match.
