Zuckerberg Spends $30 Million On Homes Surrounding His Just For Shits And Gigs
Just like the recent story we ran about the Brazilian billionaire who dropped 500 large on a Bentley, only to bury it in his garden and prove to any detractors he may have had that he was, in fact, richer than fuck, this story comes from the “When you know you have too much money” file. Zuck, like the Bentley burier, is richer than fuck, and when you’re richer than fuck, you can spend money on awesome stuff that doesn’t make much sense.
Mark Zuckerberg dropped a casual $30 million on the four homes that surround his modest $7 million, 5,000 square foot Palo Alto home, but he doesn’t plan on knocking them down or living in them. He also doesn’t plan to drive the homes’ current residents out, but will instead lease the homes back to them. This move comes after learning that a developer planned to market an adjacent home as “the one next to billionaire Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.”
From San Jose Mercury News:
Zuckerberg paid top dollar — more than $30 million in total — for the four residential properties located next door and behind his own home. But he has no plans to build a Taj Mahal on the land, according to a person with knowledge of the transactions, who said Zuckerberg is leasing the existing homes back to the families that live there.
The 29-year-old multibillionaire acted after he learned of a developer’s plan to buy one of the properties next door to the Facebook co-founder, said the source. “The developer was going to build a huge house and market the property as being next door to Mark Zuckerberg.”
I guess it rubbed Zuck the wrong way, so he wallet-whipped him. When you got it, you got it.

And this will go down as the first day in history that a AEPi wasted money.

11 years ago at 6:43 pmYou forgot to mention he bought these houses because of privacy concerns, which is kind of ironic due to the privacy sandals Facebook is currently going through, but whatever. $30mil for privacy is chump change.
