I’m proud to say that Staff Sgt. Guinta is from my home state of Iowa. He has served his country more than admirably and as an American I can only hope to be half as brave as him!

High tidey Christ almighty who the hell are we? Zim zam God damn we’re AIRBORNE INFANTRY!!! Respect from the 82nd to the 173rd. For the whole story of his unit in the Karengal Valley, read “War” by Sebastian Junger and watch “Restrepo” a documentary by National Geographic.

Doing something in combat that would be impossible in a video game and living. Being nominated for and awarded the highest honor possible and being mad at your Captain about it. Then referring to your actions as average or mediocre when asked about. A word let alone an acronym does not exist that would properly summarize Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta.
