Louisville’s President Wore A Sombrero For A Halloween Party And The World Is Pissed

The insensitive costume police aren’t just gunning for defenseless fraternities these days. They’ve expanded their scope of operations to include anyone who the media might want to run a story on.

University of Louisville President James Ramsey is under some intense fire right now. It all stems from a picture posted online of Ramsey and staff at a Halloween party at an off-campus house. The entire squad is decked out in Mexican attire, and the internet warriors are predictably pissed.

They’ve got it all: sombreros, maracas, colorful ponchos, and even stereotypical Mexican facial hair. It’s like a Christmas (wait, do I need to use a neutral holiday now, instead?) morning orgasm for the internet’s social justice warriors.

Even with what appears to be a coordinated effort, the costumes were allegedly not planned and are the doing of the university president’s wife, who gave away ponchos and other stereotypical Mexican garb to party goers as they arrived. Her reason being that she “loves Halloween.” Simple enough for us. Outside of our bubble of rationality, however, the emotions are tipping the opposite end of the scale.

Sure enough, faces of the university immediately began tossing their two cents into the fire and fueled a shitstorm that is yet to be quelled.

From USA Today:

Olivia Krauth, the editor of the student newspaper The Louisville Cardinal, wrote Thursday that “if a fraternity threw a party with a Mexican theme and pictures of them in these outfits got out, they would be in huge trouble just like countless other Greek organizations across the country in the past few years. … As the president of a university, I would expect more.”

Not long after the activism picked up steam, the university decided to release a statement of its own apologizing for the incident.

“We made a mistake and are very sorry,” Kathleen Smith, chief of staff to the president, said in a statement, which noted her office had met with a top official of U of L’s Office of Hispanic and Latino Initiatives and shared “our deep regret for the hurt this experience has caused.”

University spokesman John Karman said that he is unsure if any action will be taken against the president because nobody is certain how university policy would apply to the incident.

This Shaun King guy has made my list of “people that need their ass kicked while I’m wearing a sombrero” list, everyone’s got one of those, right?

Shaun King is a known race baiter who uses incidents like this to peddle his snake oil activism. Just look at his Ferguson work.

He calls out racism where there’s no racism at all. He might sound pretty bad, but his drooling legions of idiots are much worse.

His livelihood depends on shit like this. The problem is more and more “journalists” have to go the race route every chance they get to remain relevant. People like Shaun King see a non-mexican in a sombrero and send a quick tweet saying, “wow, white people dressed as stereotypical mexicans.” Pretty easy to remain relevant with lazy race bait shit like that, right? Well the dumb millennials who aren’t quite sure what they should and shouldn’t be offended about read shit from people like Shaun King who have a blue check mark and 200k followers and they buy into what he’s saying because they think he’s powerful…and just like that another SJW is born.

I guess no one should dress up for Halloween anymore since someone somewhere will get offended.

I’m dressing as a witch doctor for Halloween, can’t wait for people to tell me how I’m offending witches and doctors.

Rational Mexicans everywhere were quoted as saying, “Who gives a shit? It’s Halloween.”

Let me see if this logic is correct. I go to Mexico and purchase a sombrero from one of those guys on the beach who hustle tourists. The minute I put it on I’m disrespecting an entire culture, even though 1min ago a true Mexican was pressuring me to buy it.

Yes. Also, if you got to a Mexican restaurant and they bring out a Sombrero for you to wear and you actually put it on you are somehow racist.

Hey, bro. It’s just a restaurant. Just because they serve Mexican cuisine doesn’t mean they’re different from any other restaurant.

Shaun King is probably one of those people who never got a girl, a bid, or anything in his life. Now he’s taking it out on other people.

That’s why illegal immigration is so concerning.. they’re about to reclaim all their lost land the same way that America claimed Texas.

If I went to Mexico and saw someone dressed up as a loud, drunk, asshole American wearing a stupid Rowdy Gentleman t-shirt I’d be honored and hopefully make a new friend. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
