Remember The Jackass Who Shut Down A Houston Highway To Propose? He Was Charged And Deserves The Death Penalty

Yesterday I brought you the story of Vidal Valladares Navas, the Houston resident who blocked all lanes of I-45, a busy Houston highway, to propose to his girlfriend while his buddies filmed it (video below). It turns out he broke the law, obviously, because you can’t allow people to block major thoroughfares whenever they feel like being romantic.

This guy is the wooooooorst. And his friends suuuuuuuuuuck.

According to CNN, Navas was charged with obstruction of a highway, a misdemeanor — a common sense law that no one knew existed until now because who blocks a fucking highway?

Vidal Valladares, 24, has been charged with obstruction of a highway, a misdemeanor, for shutting down I-45 on Sunday to propose to his girlfriend, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office said. The misdemeanor is punishable by up to six months in jail.

“I’m feeling bad and, of course, I just wanted to apologize to everyone if I caused any problems,” Valladares told CNN affiliate KTRK. “That wasn’t my intention in the beginning. I just wanted to do something different.”

Yeah, you should feel bad. Oh, you didn’t intend to cause any problems? Because it seems like that’s exactly what you intended. Maybe you assumed the thousands of people you intentionally held up in traffic would have been so whimsically enamored by the romantic gesture that they’d just forget the whole gridlock traffic thing. Ughhhhhh.

The charge only carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail, and while it’s obvious this guy deserves the book thrown at him, I’m calling for a bit harsher penalty. Death. The death penalty. Serial murderers, child rapists, and Vidal Navas, the guy who blocked a busy highway to propose to his girlfriend..
